My power was off for 3 days and water off for 2 days. But everything has been on since yesterday luckily I fueled up on Sunday when it started to come in. Me and my sidekick keep everything pretty stocked so we're good but my neighbors are telling me the grocery store is out of everything and you have to look for fuel. We stayed warm using the fireplace but at one point it was 30 degrees in the house.

**** man.

I think there will be some corpses sticking up random neighborhoods in a few days.

How terrible

We just weren’t ready for over a week of below freezing temps and I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen it down to 0 in West Texas. Top that off with the loss of electricity. We got lucky and never lost electricity but I know a lot of people that have been without it for days. The motels have been full and the grocery stores are empty. I went to HEB this morning and it was empty. No meat at all. Temps will finally be above freezing tomorrow and I’m sure there will be lots of flooded houses. I heard a plumber talking today that they have been busy shutting peoples water off to try and keep there house from flooding when it thaws

This week has been rough for some here in S.A. It has been cold as shit. We were blessed that we had on and off power everyday this week and water all week. Everything seems to be back to normal today power wise. Last Sunday, I wrapped the outside pipes and kept the water dripping inside. We also stocked up on food and water last week. The only good thing was the snow we had on Sunday evening and today as it never snows down here. Wife and I have been going outside having snowball fights...lol

I was extremely lucky as we never lost power or water but people down the street definitely did. Had the in-laws stay one of the nights as they had my wife's 92 yr old grandmother with them. I stocked up on essentials on Saturday on my bi-weekly trip to Sam's club. I reached out to friends and family asking if they needed anything such as warm food, charging devices, wifi, etc.

Best of luck to all of you, I remember my friends house in Brownsville where they had electric heat because they used it so rarely.

This weather doesn't fit the narrative! Global warming. It does justify the name change to ( climate change ). The msm need to tread lightly and come up with a logical explanation to continue to dup the public.
This is a national emergency. Don't worry though, our capital here in DC is still safely being guarded.

I
I'm surprised by the lack of coverage on what's truly going on around there. It's not good at all.

U would think if a mayor is gonna put the whole town on blast he could at least typed without sounding like an illiterate moron who cant construct a proper sentence.

"DONT PART OF PROBLEM, BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION!!" What a ****ing idiot!

I see comments on social media about people whining the government isnt putting them up in shelters.

Some Texas Mayor resigned today because he offended some people in his town.

Last I checked someone in the family needs to be a LEADER.

Every household should have an EMERGENCY PLAN of what to do during any number of events that CAN and WILL HAPPEN at one point in time or another.

Just because you’re South of the Mason Dixon line does not mean it won’t get cold, freeze or snow.

Always have cold weather gear on hand, matches, firewood, food, bottled water, flashlight, batteries, candles and a weather radio.

Always keep your vehicle gassed up so at worst you can pull it out in the driveway and go sit in the car to stay warm until the power comes back on.

Did Americans forget how to be Americans? Everyone’s become a ****ing wimp these days and wants to rely on Uncle Sam for everything.

What in the ****?
We've been stocked up in preparation for the election and covid. The people that don't have supplies possibly were not prepped for anything else.

We northern people are use to this. Either run water frequently (which could be a waste if just running it to keep pipes from freezing) or open all faucets and turn the main water supply off. Leave the faucets open.

Kind of a bad comparison. Obviously infrastructure is built for this up north. Leaving the water running here resulted in low pressure and water supplys being cut off. People are using melted snow to flush toilets.

When it comes to power, apparently the electrical grid wasn't built for it either.

Wishing the best to all going through this. TX was on my list of relocation possibilities when I leave Vegas next year, now I'm not so sure.

So much to consider from this situation even from my position up nort der hey.

I don't think anyone can point fingers when it comes to frozen pipes. Homes likely aren't insulated/protected the same way down there and pipes are sneaky about freezing up. Hell, when it hits -10 here, even I have a couple pipes that'll freeze if I don't run the faucets here and there. Granted I/we go through this every year so it's just part of the routine and I've learned where to apply heat in order to transfer it through the copper and get the frozen part(s) to bust free.

I'm sure nobody with a diesel runs blended fuel down there so there's another contributor to lack of supply. Again, not exactly something you can come up with at the drop of a hat especially down there I imagine.

Winter driving, though? C'mon. Most are probably blazing around on summer skins or a performance all season, RWD, or FWD only. Recipe for disaster. 4 wheel drive is only good for getting your ass moving and most - even up here - still need to learn that the hard way.

A lot of the oil field in West TX is still down.

the shit part is how bad environmental gets. Now I’m seeing it since I’m in it.
Legit entire sectors are down.. and the higher ups are still. “ the EPA needs us to pass emissions “

the.. entire.. ****ing ... field .. is .. down.. in areas..

they don’t care about the power outage.. the people it effects jsut their own agenda
