The RV would be great, especially when you can climb up on the top. Some of the points to look out for animals it'd be perfect to have that high vantage point.

Make sure to bring binoculars and a spotting scope if you have one, never know what you might find and where

Personally I think Yellowstone is overrated and would spend extra time in Tetons/Jackson Hole over. Bring your strap, that area is lousy with bears/elk/moose. Elk with calves might be the most dangerous.

Eat at the Silver Dollar in Jackson Hole. Get the Elk Sliders. Trust me on this.

If you meet any Californians while in Montana please drop them off in Colorado for us

Custer State Park is a good one to go to. Just don’t go late in evening and get lost there after dark on a motorcycle like I did. Buffalo are big and scary when you can only see them at the last minute.
