In late June, my wife and I are taking a 2 week trip (driving) up to Rapid City, SD, then heading over the Bozeman, Helena, Whitefish, Missoula, then down to Park City, UT (Ford driving experience) then to Breckinridge, CO, then finally back to Texas

We plan to see Mount Rushmore, Black Hills, Glacier National Park, and Yellowstone.

What else would be good to do while up in that area?

Thanks!

go out the south side of Yellowstone into the Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole is a nice little town too.

not sure if you'll be going in that direction in Utah or not but Dinosaur Monument is pretty damn cool, even if you just go to the exhibit center.

And at the Tetons make sure to see Jenny Lake.

I did a similar trip with my parents a few years back but our goal was to go to the Grand Canyon so we hit Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah along the way. Honestly, Wyoming and Utah were by far the best places to see and Utah's parks blow almost everything else out of the water. While in Wyoming we stayed in Jackson and I loved everything about it. Yellowstone was really cool and I would love to go back, but when I do that trip again I'm going to head to Utah again as well.

wow. I'd love to pull the data to compare mpg against the elevation, speed and weather conditions. I'd love to analyze it.

In that part of the country, I could sit in an open field, or clearing, for a whole day minimum, take in the air, and the scenery. Do absolutely nothing but take it all in.

I went hunting with a colleague who was from outside of Jackson Hole for a week. I told him I could never come back because there was no way I would be able to leave again. It was difficult paying attention for game because I was absorbing everything around me. I have a hard time putting into words, but if you enjoy hunting, activities outdoors, it is emotionally overwhelming in a positive way. It reminded me of the first time I went trans-Atlantic on a vessel, and the ability to see the stars/night sky in an area completely void of lighting.

Enjoy that scenery.

Wife and I did a pretty similar trip: Houston - Albuquerque - Moab - SLC - Bozeman - Glacier National Park - Great Falls - then south through WY/CO/OK back to Houston. Check out Flathead Lake, absolutely beautiful, also need to stop at Tamarack Brewing Co on the western side.
