mine think I wonder after now owning a ram with it, when will Ford do an air suspension? Originally it was something I wanted to avoid like the plague but now having it I do t think I’d want to do with out it short of having the TRX
In the longterm, if you plan on keeping the vehicle longer than 5 years, air suspension is a curse. That is why there are aftermarket brands out there that make kits to replace the entire thing with coilovers and remove the air system altogether. FCA vehicles are notorious for having failing systems and Ford likely abandoned it when the Expedition and Navigator air systems became problematic for them. If a bag goes it will take the pump with it and if the pump goes it takes the bags with it. That's what happens nearly every time.
there are countless brands that use air suspension. It’s just a cost factor and the reality is for most buying new cars, they don’t hold their cars longer than 5 years. I know I won’t have my ram for over 5 years.
as far as the system is concerned vs Rams previous iterations, it’s been revamped and the largest concerns with cold weather functionality have been resolved.
I’d really be curious to see the figures of numbers of trucks sold vs numbers of them retained by the original owner for 5+ years.
The ones that I can remember repairing were around 5-7 years old. The Expeditions and Navigators were all 1st gens so they were well past their life cycles.
