EcoBoost V6 to start. God forbid Ford would actually give customers out of the gate what they've been screaming for.....a V8 Raptor. One that has the grunt to go toe to toe with the Dodge RAM TRX. Oh, it will come....eventually.

So they're projecting around 13.8 MPG based on the 36 gallon tank and 500 mile range.

Overall, this is a really awesome Raptor. Ford did a great job on it. It's just a shame that the V8 model is supposedly coming later. IMO, Ford really needed to put the smackdown on the TRX. I give Chrysler/Dodge credit for knowing what their customers want, and giving it to them in spades.

They need the whole team really. Its as if nobody in Fords marketing department is an enthusiast. They all show up to work driving Taurus' or something lame.

I picture the Dodge team to show up every day in a fleet of Hellcat powered things, all doing burnouts as they pull into the parking lot with huge shit eating grins on their faces.
Ford guys all wish they where Tesla or Apple.

Dodge guys all want to be Petty Racing.

V6 of course but that was to be expected.

Im interested in the exhaust system. Seems like they might have figured out how to make the v6 not sound so shitty.

Indeed:
"A new three-inch equal-length exhaust system features a patent-pending built-in X-pipe, unique “trombone loop” and first-for-Raptor active valves. The system takes advantage of a true pass-through muffler design that improves sound quality. Customers can configure four sound level modes – Quiet, Normal, Sport and Baja."

37s , new coil suspension , exhaust system from the eco seems to sound a lot better then last gen , more travel , more approach and departure angels. They really worked on suspension. I would imagine since old Raptor was 450/510 this new gen will be 500/600 maybe ? And Raptor R with blown V8 comes out next year. Easy way for Ford to charge 100+k. Ford will sell both models very well and so will Ram.

At least it looks nice. It looks like it was designed off of Gen 1 which is nice.

I think the fact that they need another year for the R says everything. It's clear they weren't expecting what Ram did when they were drawing up the gen 3 initially.
That's likely true. But, it's no secret that Ford truck fans have been screaming for a new V8 Raptor. If what you believe is true, then Ford shut its ears to its customers' requests for the V8 Raptor, until they found out the TRX was being launched. I don't know what to believe regarding this, with the way Ford marketing has bungled time and time again. They're a bit out of touch with what their customers want. JMO.

Talk about underwhelming reveal. They could learn from RAM for their marketing and presentation.

that’s aside I was worried about how the front end would look but I actually like that it looks a bit like the Gen 1 raptor. I’d like to see more of the interior and I’ll be interested to see the raptor R.

for the ones that said the raptor R wasn’t a forced hand due to the TRX, do you think otherwise now since it’s set to be shown in the next year but still with no true time line? I also wonder if Ram will do anything to prepare for the drop of a raptor R

Agreed. It looks good, but I waited till 11:38 on YouTube for the reveal it was a commercial and nothing about the GT500 motor.

The 3.0 is a stout little motor and ZFG Racing has been pushing out really strong tunes. The guy @jvandy50 is referring to is in the 10's now since he's done a little more work since this video:

Man, that thing is FLYING. Dont think i can stuff a tune on it yet since the wife will kill me. Ill wait till the 36,000 mark and sneak on one.

Truck itself IS pretty nice and the capability it is designed for will beat the dodge undoubtedly. Just a shame Ford is doing Ford in the marketing world.
