Not to go full nerd but 9V are the only true (vs AA C, D, etc) in that range that is a "battery" rest are cells. Most 9V are usually a collection of button cells. Voltage is limited by the chemistry so you have to put cells in series to get higher voltage. Everything is magic when you're a moron.
