Anyone else have "pets" that aren't a cat or a dog?

I picked up a couple of Aldabra Tortoise hatchlings back in the summer. Future giants

I just got my first cat which I think is actually pretty exotic looking as she is a Siberian I'm pretty sure, but is obviously still a cat. I have owned two Water Dragons in the past when I was like 12. They're like Iguanas and grow to be about 4ft but they are a lot friendlier than Iguanas and are supposed to be easier to take care of. Unfortunately, they both died which was most likely due to me not knowing how to really care for them properly and I still feel bad about that.

My dad was just telling me about the pets my uncle had when they were young. He had a Skunk that would sleep on the warm hood of his 67 fastback when he would take it to cruises and car shows and girls would come by and think it was a stuffed animal until he honked the horn and it would jump up with tail raised causing the girls to run screaming lol. He also had a Capuchin Monkey, and then he had a Macaw parrot named Admiral who lived for over 40 years and was mean as hell to anyone but my uncle and sometimes my dad. When he was out of his cage at the skating rink my family owned we had to watch out for him because he would sneak down onto the floor and run across and chase us, and everyone would scatter because we were all so afraid of being bitten with that beak.

Just some cats, black and white is Twinkle and the Murphy(back) and Bella(front) . All awesome cats and rescues. Twinkle wandered into a BBQ we were at around labor day and has been with us since. Is leash trained and loves to go to various businesses. Murphy was a rescue who lost her home after they had to move and couldn't take her with them. Bella was a rescue after her previous owner passed away unexpectedly.

So who's gonna get them when you die? (This isn't a slight against you, those things routinely live longer than their owners do, right?)

I have a 3 year old Son, they definitely live 100+ years. But they also increase in value as they age and can fetch 6 figures for a proven breeder.

About as close to a pet dinosaur as you can get lol. Went down the rabbit hole reading about them after seeing your first post. Things are cool as hell.

are you paying board or do you have land to keep them on (guessing by the goat its the latter not the former)

When I still lived in NJ I was saving between 7-10 grand a year by boarding in PA.

On my land. My girlfriend trains horses and we live on a 10 acre horse farm. Thank god for farm assessment. She boards about 15 horses and has 5 of her own.

How many years does it take for a hatch ling to become a giant(full grown)?

It varies but they will be substantial in a few years. It can take 25 years or so before you can tell their sex. They’re only about 500-600g now and will probably double in weight before summer. I’m in Georgia so they spend the cooler months indoors but will eventually need to build a heated barn for them. This photo is of a 3 year old I found from a FB group View attachment 1683826

Lol heated barn. Make it look like horse barn then tell your niece/nephew/neighbor/etc (kids you don't have to pay the psych bills for) to go see the ponies. Can only imagine the reaction.

When I first met my wife she was Director of Pet Nursing at Banfield. She had a snake somebody ditched, 5-6ft Colombian Red Tail Boa, she brought home a Bearded Dragon once, she just bought a fish, then we have a cat, and two dogs (rescues).

I want a lemur and a penguin. She wants goats and chickens.
