This is pretty much was Cyberpunk 2077 is about in a way. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this develops.

The whole show "Silicon Valley" was based around this idea. Except data was distributed over all online devices in small parts like bittorrent instead of personal servers. Show is funny AF if you haven't seen it, same guy did King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead.

And a little bonus on compression: NSFW

Google and other tech giants are quietly buying up the most important part of the internet

Problem I see with all this is who actually owns the cables to transmit all our data. Do they simply shut out folks to keep their monopoly is things such as Inrupt move forward. It’s honestly very concerning.

I made my oldest use a paperback encyclopedia for research and she thought I was nuts! Information is so easy to get, but I long for the days when all I had was an indestructible Ericsson, Nokia or Nextel phone for contact and I still actually used a paperback manual.

Every one of those actors in the second video is hardcore left.

We'll just say I won't watch the show

FlahDah man.
Did you hear about the Chinese Quantum internet announcement? They had 2 breakthroughs.
Meanwhile Musk is laughing, seeing an even bigger endgame owning the internet from the sky, and owning all energy production to run it.

OK Bozos, stop clowning around.

Yeah, I'd feel more optimistic if the article was recently written. It's over 2 years old. But like @RedVenom48 said, I do support returning to a free and open Internet.

I had a friend tell me about this, my one concern is how do you deliver it? Satellite is the only way I can think of, which is slow and expensive. After what we have seen in the last week, does anyone think any cable or phone company will let their infrastructure deliver a competing product?

2nd post with updated links, he has investors and is slowly getting up and running. Do I see it happening quickly, no but at a pace far exceeding the original integration...yes

That's old sat. I think Starlink (Elon Musk) is somewhere in 150mbps range. Latency is good too. Better than most people's cable transfer speeds.
