Car has rod knock. I would be doing removal and install into car.

Looking for quality shop to rebuild my cobra shortblock and heads in the Grand Rapids MI area. So far the shops I have talked to seem uninterested or have never work on one of these motors.

Im just looking for a honest machine shop thats not gonna rip me off. Im not looking for anything special. Just heads and shortblock "Refreshed" i think is the trem. Rings, bearing, valve stem seal etc.

If any experts are intrested in helping me rebuilt my shortblock in person that would be great too.

Assuming crank, pistons and rods are good what kinda ball park im I looking at $$$ wise.

3-5k easily for a stock rebuild with your heads being freshened up. You can buy a brand new short block in the 5k range, then reuse your heads. Best bang for your buck.

I paid over 3k just at machine shop to have my block 0.02" over, decked, torque plated, magnafluxed ect, cleaned crank, coated bearings, and assembled the short block. I provided all the parts minus bearings (I wanted them to measure and spec these). Brand new crank, pistons, rings, plugs and dowels and all ARP2000 bolts. I finished assembling my engine.

If the motor is still good, couldn't you rebuild the shortblock in your garage yourself? Like they do in a single episode of those TV shows?

Take it apart, clean it all up, use a drill and a ball-hone to refinish the cylinders, and put it back together with new bearings?

Never done it before so I'm just asking.
