Hello everyone,

I've been doing some research on workbench's and storage cabinets. I'm looking for ideas and brands that people are using.

I really want 1 or 2 tall cabinets, and a workbench. And I really don't want to mount any cabinets on the wall. I already have a new craftsman tall tool box.

For color I'm going with black. I want enough storage, but I don't want to much either. I'd rather have enough space to work in.

Ideally I want a 4 post lift and maybe a bigger compressor at some point.

As for price, I'd like to stay around 2k or less.

Thanks for the help!

I bought out 2 really nice old kitchen remodels, you know the kind where the wife wanted new cabinets because they weren't "in" anymore. Got the countertop and built in sink in one corner section, and thick (about 1.5" X 25') Amish made wooden countertops on the other side. Cabinets still need to be painted, but for a garage they look really nice as is.

I actually think I found a set I like. I can always add to it, if need be.

Should fit nicely in the corner.

You will want to "blue tape" that out on the floor. that bench looks small, and not very stable (maybe you plan to bolt to the wall?). Doesn't look stout enough for a vise (where you are pulling bending etc)

I am just starting on the inside of my shop, going to build the work bench custom. Going over the top of the tool box to save space and will be taller than standard height because i don't want to bend too low. I have been building this shop in my head for 25 years.

I bought cabinet drawers made by lista and sold by griot's garage. Red and black. Also, wall cabinets by Geneva, also red and black. The drawers double as my workbench. Put a 10' butcher block on top. Will add another 4.5' butcher block to make it almost 15'.

You can't go wrong with lista. Problem is, they're expensive. Check out some auctions and you can pick them up for pennies on the dollar.

Here's a pic of the shop so far. Excuse the mess, I'm in the middle of building this house and the shop is low priority right now. It has quite a ways to go.

I'd want a bigger working area than that small bench though.
Buy some cabinets. Some pegboard and lumber and DIY. It'll be just the way you want it.
I can add another workbench next to it. This one is 6ft long. I just don't want it taking up to much space.

Well it states workbench is rated to 2300lbs. I measured the dimensions, you can see the measuring tape. Workbench is 6ft long.

I like the clean look. And I guess I could add more workbench space. Here is a 8ft I could put next to it. And add more cabinets.

Still seems tiny (edit original post), if you really planning on working on your cars in this space. Also I was referring to lateral yanking on the bench, vs a dead load on top of it. With what I have done to my vise, I would envision that bench would have wound up on my toes (tipped over).

EDIT, that bench looks better, I would still pin it to the wall in a lot of places.

LoL, you should see the bench I've been using for 16+ years. I'm sure I could secure it to the wall.
Very nice! That looks like a 3k+ setup.

Also, my buddy can custom build. Maybe that's a good route to go...

I feel like a turd for posting my setup because I didn’t see your budget. Moduline has a few lines of cabinets, but these are pricey.

Brady, take a look at proslat slat wall. You should be able to find what you are looking for. They offer discounts if you ask.

I'll check it out. Pretty spendy stuff. My buddy does carpentry. I'm going to have him stop by this week to take a look.

A custom one of a kind might be worth looking into.
