Sold my 1997 Cobra in order to make room for the 2020 GT500. Drove 11 hours in order to get the Twister Orange color I’ve been looking for. It’s just a tad bit more fun than my Kia Stinger. Although, I think I got a little too used to having 450whp and AWD...can punch it from a stop and it just goes. The GT500 likes to point in several other directions other than straight.

Congrats. Track it and you'll find that it is very easy to work with, especially in Track Mode. It absolutely works to keep you out of trouble.

Nice! I'm sure it's a night and day difference from the '97 Cobra haha.

This is tempting me to go out and see how much trouble it’ll keep me out off. Talked to the wife and she’s down.

While the ‘97 was fun, I owned it for 5 1/2 years and drove it maybe 1-2k miles. I figured I’ll end up doing the same with the GT500, but can’t stop driving it. Put about 500 miles on it in a week.

Wow your 2nd post in 8 years!

Darn good one. Enjoy the car!
I lurk the boards lol. Nothing too special about my ‘97 Cobra. I do find a well of information here including the statements here that ultimately got me to buy the GT500 vs going for the C8.

Be sure to make an appointment for the Track Attack. You'll get a really good taste of what the car is capable of.

What did u do to the Kia to give it 450 hp? I think they come stock at 360 or so. Wondering what bolt-ons and tune u chose.

I’m interested in hearing what he’s done to it, too. That Stinger comes with 365hp. He likely has a tune and a couple of bolt ons.

Intake, exhaust and tune (JB4 map 3 e30). Others with the same setup, but running WMI are in the 480 range. There are several stock turbo/engine setups around 500-510. One local has upgraded turbos (still small) which is pushing 610.

My current setup should have me in low 12s and possibly break into a 11.99.

Beautiful car! Love the Orange, was my second choice.

Also, any photos of the 97? Love me some SN95!

Actually even after 5 1/2 years of ownership, I really didn't have too many photos of it. Had big plans for it, but they never became reality.

The motor was fully built (forged) with 04 heads (cooling mod), 01 intake, ARP everything, windage tray, eibach springs, shocks, upper/lower arms, rear panhard bar, h-pipe and SLP catback. Misc things throughout as well. Ended up swapping the short block into my buddies 03 Mach which combined with a YSI is currently sitting around 800rwhp. Even with the now weaker 03 short block, it was still putting down 310rwhp. While fun enough...again, I never took it where I wanted it to go.
