"Ford's new 7.3-liter gasoline V8 lived up to its "Godzilla" name right out of the gate. Former Ford Racing bigwig Brian Wolfe pushed one built strictly to produce 780 horsepower without any forced induction, and as soon as he got supercharger manufacturer Whipple involved, the numbers soared skyward, with one recent dyno run reaching 1,450 horsepower. Best of all, the Godzilla achieved these numbers using its stock block and crankshaft."

"Wolfe and crew returned to the shop Tuesday, with a smaller supercharger drive pulley and a bellmouth—basically a big velocity stock—in tow. After installing them, the supercharged Godzilla gained two pounds of boost, allowing it to lay down 1,450 horsepower and 1,030 pound-feet of torque; more than double the power of a Hellcat, and almost 65 percent more torque."

After reading that tidbit in your link, my jaw dropped to the ground. Let me find it and pick it up. LOL. Man, that's amazing!!

Niiiiice. My only gripe with this motor is in stock for its completely underwhelming. The numbers it has made with H/C or a Whipple have been great.

It. Is .A. Truck. Engine.

It's purposely overbuilt to be robust and reliable first, power was always an afterthought. The reason it makes power like this is due to the efficiency designed in to the heads in order to get the most power from the least cam timing for the best balance of power and emissions.

I understand that which is why I have never been into trucks until recently. All that I had drove felt the same which was underpowered. I guess my expectations were just to high when i heard all the praise about the all new 7.3L Godzilla.

The problems isn't the engine, it's the wrapper it's in. Put it in a regular cab F-150 with 4WD and a 10A. It'd be a lot of fun.

Put it in a mustang, now. Man that’s some impressive numbers for the boost on a blower set up.

Pick your poison.
