I expect the first one to be ready for the gentleman who let us borrow his tank soon... like literally any day based on our last group discussion! It’s been a long road, but it is soo close to the finish line.

Tim - Not yet. The first two that are being made will help the fabricator determine this as well as the time it will take. He has not made any guarantees that more will be made, but understands there is a list of individuals who are interested so he is putting all the details together.

As we spoke earlier, I am definitely one of those folks that would like to get on the list! I appreciate you taking the time earlier and speaking with me.

I sure hope this doesn't fall apart.

I want to ensure that the reality is clear. It’s been a long road and since this a friend we are very understanding of various situations that we’ve both gone through.

I’m not convinced that everyone would be as understanding and that is something he will need to factor in before committing to make more than the 2.

The good news is that he is attacking this from the perspective that many want this. The design and other leg work, that has killed the project for others, has been done. Now it’s a matter of welding and perfecting :)

If you can afford an R you can afford a $3300 fuel cell replacent. I don't have an R but an 03 cobra and my car has had the 00R fuel cell since 04'. My bladder doesn't leak and the foam is still in good condition. I reached out to fuel safe about the need to replace and they said ONLY if the foam is beaking down or if it's leaking. If neither than keep using it. When I replace it I will be buying a new fuel safe version since I actually track mine I want it for the safety aspect.

Have fun with that bladder replacement. I've done it twice and had no desire for a 3rd time. They can and will leak. I am shocked yours is still going. 10 years is extremely long for them.

It's worth the $700 more to just buy a whole new cell from fuel safe vs trying to change the bladder out. I am also surprised mine is not leaking since it's been through 9k miles of road racing and is now 17yrs old

I would go with the standard cell also unless you really want to retain the factory filler location. I redid all the gaskets etc on mine and they are all different from the std aftermarket cell being a blend of Ford and Fuelsafe. Parts were hard to find.

No updates are expected for a while (its a very unfortunate personal/private matter with my friend/the fabricator that slowed it down now). This post will be updated when I have an update. The hard work is all done...

David - I thought you were going to make a cover the last time we chatted?

This project that Ben and I embarked on is to make a exactly replica of the entire cell, but as a tank. This will not be cheap. Hopefully it’s ready before any of our cells leak.
