Ever since I got into healthcare back in 2001 a few things have stayed constant.

1. Staffing models are never met as everywhere is understaffed.

2. There seems to always be a nationwide shortage on healthcare professionals.

3. Everywhere has seemed to been looking to minimize supply areas while trying to maximize care areas even with a lack of staff to support the additional areas.

4. Facilities seemed to have been turning to a model where they have less employees on their actual payroll and relied heavier on staffing agencies to fill their ranks.

I think these things are going to play into the post CoVid landscape of healthcare.

First, I see Joe and the Hoe pushing through Universal Healthcare. This is going to cause all these unhealthy drains on society come out of the woodwork to get all their self inflicted problems addressed even though we know they will continue to waste their Foodstamps on gallons of Mt Dew, Cheese Curls, and the other terrible choices.

This will put a bigger strain on the system.

I predict with two years that due to CoVid and Dems pushing through their programs that the Healthcare Industry will be in a very bad place. I foresee a mass exodus of workers. Nurses, RTs, doctors, technicians, everyone. I believe the ranks will be thinned greatly. Add in you are going to have new staff that have essentially had two years of learning shredded in favor of as much virtual learning as possible.

Now, I believe that this is not strictly because of CoVid. I believe that CoVid will be, is the proverbial straw that breaks the camel’s back. I feel like most places have workers that as a whole believe the leadership does not care about the staff, supplies, or equipment.

Personally I know of a bunch of nurses and RTs that have retired or plan on retiring within the next year because of all of this.

Should be interesting to watch not only the healthcare sector but others to see how CoVid changes them.

I think a lot of shit will hit the fan in the next few years. If they push that thru it will cripple a lot of things. Gas and basic supplies will also go up to pay for it. Obamacare was the biggest pos ever thrown at us till this. You wanna keep your plan or doctor nope didn’t work. I pay more for insurance now then I did before Obamacare. Beijing Biden and Kuntmala are basically Obama 3.0 administration.

I worked nights in the ER at one of the busiest hospital in Dallas for about 5 years, left in 2010.

These problems existed the whole time I was there.

Constantly understaffed, nurse to patient ratios were actually illegal as far as the nursing board. Nurses would get burned AND get better offers at other hospitals/offices/clinics and take them. Some would leave for the same pay just to have a regular schedule and not be asked (or expected) to work 60/hrs a week.

I can tell you first hand that working for a county hospital that didn’t require proof of insurance up front, that this is exactly what happens. It’s amazing what people would come in for...ingrown toenail, ingrown hair, headache post orgasm (yes, really), then wonder why wait times to see an attending were not hours, but days...

It’s funny you mention leadership. I remember telling a nurse who was trying to get promoted to management, not to forget where her ass came from. I told her “don’t forget how it is out here” which she magically forgot within a week. Everyone went from loving her to hating her. I saw it happen repeatedly.

Probably the most rewarding job I ever had, but I don’t miss the politics of it one bit.

I agree. Healthcare is going to be ****ed.

As a single father with two small businesses healthcare is so unobtainable I don't even give a **** anymore. It needs to come crumbling down imo.

Healthcare now: Terrible
Healthcare in the future: Terribler

Its a broken system that one side doesn't care to address and the other side wants to nationalize.

Still blows my mind in 2017 they had all 3 chambers and the best they could come up with was remove Obamacare and we'll figure the rest later. And the latter was a lie.

The for profit medical industrial pharmaceutical complex is the problem.

Profit needs to be removed from medicine. If that kills innovation so be it. I don't believe that it will though.

Do you understand that our for profit system is what attracts the best and brightest in the world? When did you ever see the top “insert healthcare professional” leave the US for “insert nationalized healthcare country”?

The biggest problem is government red tape and oversight on what the retards that be claim are experimental treatments.

Yeah, let’s throw more money at the government which is essentially an addict. That will fix things. Lol

Understaffed for sure. My mother is in her 70s but still has an active RN license in NY and she was asked to return to the profession a few times the past few years, especially since Covid hit. But with her underlying conditions she would most assuredly die if exposed to Covid so she has declined. The patient to nurse ratio is likely illegal in many places like someone mentioned just as it is in public education. But what can you do? If you don't have enough ponies you still have to run the race.

James, how would the universal healthcare even work? The insurance companies go bye bye? Hard to imagine considering their lobbying power.
My premiums doubled over a few years (still only 5k for my daughter and I) following Obama care.

But wait. Gov takes money via tax so my healthcare cost would be based on my income? Wtf is that shit.

All healthcare needs to be and stay privatized so that government can’t reach their scumbag hands in it and say how it goes.

Anything that the government gets involved in costs more and delivers less. Look at public schools that can't manage to teach children when they get $15k a head. College tuition has gone up 1500% since 1980 since gov loans really took off. Healthcare has gone nuts since Medicare/caid has become the largest customer. The whole country is going to burn to the ground in the next 10 years, so it really doesn't matter.

1. I’d imagine it will be a percentage of income so of course the more you make the more you pay.

Just like today.

2. I’d bet a year’s pay that private insurance would still exist.

I’d pay for private insurance to get my family at the front of the list. I don’t care what that means for people that cannot afford to do it. Not my problem.

I have to laugh that every time I have the u oversaw healthcare talk and the discussion of money that the retards are perfectly fine with handing the government more money even though they complain separately about the government’s spending problems.

Though it is always people that constantly complain about how little money that they have to begin with. Which they also love to point out how much “rich” people have increased their wealth but have done nothing to try and improve their situation. These leeches just want handouts.

Healthcare will continue to be the primary tool of the left to control the right as long as there is the BS pricing that takes place throughout the system. What is billed vs what is actually paid is a joke, but if you choose to opt out of the system, the next family emergency will certainly bankrupt you. Billed is usually 5-1 to 10-1 of what is actually paid. Nothing else like it in the whole world, and we sit there and tolerate it, forced to have an insurance company between us and the provider, no different than the mob. Truth is, everyone in the healthcare system gets a little cut of that extortion, whether you want to accept it or not. I agree about how poorly staff is treated, as I have family in the nursing side of the game, but as long as billing is as messed up as it is, nothing else can be fixed. You bitch to admin, and they complain about how low their remittances are, all along knowing that it will be a low number, because the posted number is so crazy it cannot be met. You want to fix healthcare, first thing you fix is transparent and honest billing for services.

I’m just guessing, but do the bill that huge number so they somehow show a loss or something? Not even sure how you’d do that on taxes. I mean if a tenant doesn’t pay rent, you can’t write that as a loss, there just isn’t the income.

so what’s the purpose of them billing $300 when they know the insurance only pays $60

Bahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

I am guessing you are the type that wants his healthcare for free.

I bet you bitch and moan about believing your time is worth more than you are paid.

But hey, why not go get your nursing or MD degree and treat yourself so you don’t have to worry about “extortion”.

I’m just guessing, but do the bill that huge number so they somehow show a loss or something? Not even sure how you’d do that on taxes. I mean if a tenant doesn’t pay rent, you can’t write that as a loss, there just isn’t the income.

So you have uninsured, insured in network, insured out of network, then Medicare/Medicaid.

Of the uninsured you have those that will pay and those that will not.

Different insurance companies negotiate different prices with providers and facilities.

I worked at two university medical centers and one private, nonprofit facility. Each year at each facility we would write off millions in unpaid services.

Last university I worked for we got reimbursed $0.25 per dollar charged to Medicare/Medicaid.

There have been payment plans and even incentives which lowered bills for uninsured at all three hospitals I worked at.

A lot of the cost associated with care is due to the layering and waste that government and credentialing agencies have created. Joint Commission is a ****ing mob. Perfect example, study upon study has shown zero bacterial growth in IVs at more than 96 hours. Yet when I left patient care an IV set needed to be started on a patient within 4 hours or we had to toss it due to JC. Propofol, comes in multi-use vials yet they can only be used on one patient due to JC. The list goes on.

I truly believe JC is made up of hacks that passed the school work but failed practicals and now want to make their mark on the history of healthcare. No sane person that has worked any actual time in the field would make the rules they do. Their policies and regulations lack scientific basis.

Again, cost comes down to a government problem and insurance problem more than hospital problem. Most hospitals make very little in profit.

I figured that was the reason for the “billed” vs “paid” discrepancy on my benefits statement.

Still odd that they can write it as a loss but I figured that’s what they were doing.
