I do like the Lariat cluster better than the stock one. Nice job with the cover polishing. It came out great, saving you $200. What's the update on the (lost) trans cooler?
Literally the day after amazon sent a replacement the tracking updated and it started moving again! So now I have 2 sitting here..lol. I'll be installing it under the bed so I'm going to wait until I've had a chance to clean the undercarriage.

Going all out man. Are you going to keep the center console shifter?

Next on my list is some interior upgrades as well likely starting with the steering wheel and then a leather upgrade.

Yes I'm keeping the shifter. The hole in the floor is already there for the shifter cable so it's pretty straight forward. Boosted GreyGoose Designs has some custom wire harnesses to make the console swap work as well as for the Raptor steering wheel upgrade.

Ya I’m grabbing his harness for the wheel to make the paddles work.

I’ve just seen some people add the center console and then keep the column shift and put the tray in place of the console shifter for more console storage. Didn’t know if you were going to opt for that or now.

Guessing you’re trying to button this all up in spring to have it ready for summer?

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the column shifter and prefer it on the console. I also have a Raptor steering wheel on order. Winter usually lasts well into April around here so lots of time left to finish it up..lol!

Attempted to install the Ford performance LSD today. It's actually a 2015+ Mustang diff but it will work in an F150 with a slight modification. The issue is the axle will not slide far enough into the side gear to install the C-clip. Some guys just shave down the C-clip but the better way to do it is to remove 1/8" of the splines in the gear so the axle can slide in further.

I took the gears to a local machinist but he didn't think he could do anything with it since it's hardened steel so as usual, I needed a DIY solution. Enter my handy die grinder with grinding stone!

10 minutes worth of work and both gears are good to go.

That's about as far as I got because the new bearings I bought (National A36) do not fit. I'm going to order new ones From Ford on Monday.

Once again I was waiting on parts so I filled in the time with side projects. I really didn't like how the interior on this truck was half black and half gray so I decided to paint the gray panels black. Did some research and SEM products had good reviews. It's a 4 step process: 2 cleaners, an adhesion promoter and the color coat.

20210102_230132.jpg

Here's the original color.

20210102_230345.jpg

Turned out great, I even did all the plastic pieces on the seat belts. The color is a little shinier than I imagined but it looks good next to the factory black trim with some Mothers Protectant on it. I ran out of the color coat so I didn't get the door panels done yet.

Finally got the correct bearings for the diff.

B&M diff cover.

Sealed up. Completely forgot to take a picture of the diff installed...lol!

Vas Fabrication front diff brace helps keep the front diff from moving or twisting to improve launches.

Very simple to install!

Decided to clean/paint the rear brakes before reassembling the rear axle. The calipers were completely encrusted in dirt and rust and needed to be sand blasted.

Rattle can VHT caliper paint red.

I took the extra time to do the caliper mount and axle flange so I won't have to pull the axles if I later decide to remove and paint the whole diff.

I swear this thread had me looking at regular cab trucks but damn they're spendy

love the build

Yeah I looked a a few months to find a used one. No way I was paying what they want for a new one, only to turn around and immediately void the warranty.

I only spent like 10 minutes looking around crap like auto trader and even used trucks were 25k.

Still waiting on the console conversion wiring harness, otherwise the truck is ready to start! :D Here's a few more odd jobs I got done.

Front brakes painted and installed.

All fluids refilled.

Installed the AEM failsafe air/fuel/boost gauge and warning light. The gauge has a programmable output that will turn the light on if the engine goes lean under boost.

Swapped out the stock steel driveshaft for a PST aluminum shaft. The stockers aren't really up to holding 1000hp and 7000 RPM+ shaft speeds.

Strange chromoly slip yoke, Spicer forged U-joints.

3.5" aluminum vs 3" steel.

Aluminum. 8 lb lighter, nice!

Next on the to do list is a trans cooler. I chose a Derale unit with attached fan to mount at the back of the truck.

20210212_222619.jpg

Bolted up nicely in place of the spare tire. I installed an inline 180 degree thermostat switch to control the fan and also have a manual switch in the cab.

I attached the -8 AN lines to the original trans lines with some 1/2" compression fittings.

Next I need to finish the interior. I swapped out the boring stock steering wheel for a Raptor wheel with paddle shift and red stripe.

20210129_224228.jpg

Added a little flare by wrapping the bezel with 3M carbon fiber. This stuff is gorgeous! It even has texture like real CF.

Since I'm converting the truck from column shift to console shift, I purchased a new column cover from Ford to remove the hole left by the column shifter.

More 3M carbon fiber highlights for the interior.

Door panels painted black and new arm rests installed with red stitching to match the seats and console.
