Merry (late) Christmas and hope everyone has a good New Years!! For starters I got the green light from my wife to start throwing $ into rebuilding my cobra lol. I’m here for some advice. I want to go forged internals, but I need a new crankshaft as well, what is a good brand? I got the block bored .020 over, I want to keep a higher compression cause I’m not planning for a power adder for a while, what are your guys recommendations for pistons? As well as where can I find a solid crank, I’ve looked for used ones and no luck near me. Also while I’ll be replacing almost everything on the motor what should be upgraded or added? I’ve got about 10k to play with and looking for the best route to go with this, thank you!

I hope the block wasn't bored the full .020" over. The machine shop needs the actual pistons to get the clearances correct. I ran Diamond in the past and liked them. But Gibtec seems to be the new go to for pistons.

How bad is the crank? Did it spin a bearing?

The previous owner attempted replacing rod bearings on his own it seems, completely ate away at a part of a journal, I brought it to a few places and was told it wasn’t salvageable

If you’re replacing the crank, are you considering a stroker crank? From what I’ve seen they aren’t too much more than other forged cranks.

I have seen them for sale on lethal performance, wasn’t sure about them tbh, are they worth it? What would be hp gains from a stroker kit

With all else staying the same, probably 25-30 NA along with added torque. It is the budget 5.0.

That doesn’t seem that bad, now my question would be , if I go stroker kit where should I look for one, I know of the eagle brand I believe they’re called, but what kind of piston should I run or the “cc” of them to keep that higher compression for an N/A motor?

I haven’t built a motor, so your question is not in my wheelhouse. Others will be able to speak on that.

Also MMR has a 3.6" Ford crank with bearings that gets you only ~4.75 L.

You can also request an invite and then post up on the na svt FB page and get expert advice in that area as well. You are more likely to get a proper list of what to purchase there.

Modularmotorsportsracing.com is an excellent source for built motors as well as motor building components.
