I think most will agree this is the best mini-series every produced and the stories that these men tell are party why.

I always tried to mirror Major Winters leadership and Professionalism throughout my career as I went up through the ranks. Im sure I never did but I tried....

Agreed! I’ve watched it several times over and could watch it again tomorrow. Major Winters was an amazing man.

While the series is great, reading all of Stephen Ambrose's books gives you an even closer/deeper look at what these guys had to go through. (he spent a lot of time to "get it right")
The amount of strength & courage these guys had to summon day after day is unbelievable.

And if you're into reading and WWII, I just finished "Spearhead" by Adam Makos.
Adam was able to find surviving soldiers from the European tank campaign, interview them and find documentation backing up their stories.
Listening to these guys talk about going into battle, knowing they were out gunned and probably not going to survive...but doing it anyway...is pretty mind blowing.

I wish it was on Netflix or Amazon Prime. It looks like an awesome mini-series.

If you have History Channel they're playing the entire thing this Thursday starting at 7 AM (central). It is 100% worth the watch and IMO the best mini series ever produced.

Great story, even greater men. I need to read the book. My grandfather was 101st 327th glider infantry in WW2. I have a few relics he brought back including a Prussian officers sword that was surrendered to him. I never got many stories from him as he wouldn't talk about it much. Truly the greatest generation.

No, I used to have Hulu, but when they kept raising their rates I cancelled. Now I only have Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The other competitors are about the same price. And all of them have varying content. Content comes. Other content goes. Another reason why I dropped Hulu.

Literally, the Greatest Generation. They werent perfect, but they are heads an shoulders better than most of the current Americans, myself included.

An entire generation that lived through the Great Depression only to have WW2 spring up as they approached adulthood.... and they rose to the occasion.

Hard times make strong men. We should be so lucky that they were our forefathers. And we should be ashamed at where we are now.

I have read several books linked to these guys. All of the ones I’ve read have been great so far.

That's really nice of you, Brett. I had already decided to sign up for HBO Max for a month. $14.99 was cheap since I can watch the whole Series and then cancel any time. Again, that was awesome of you to offer to loan me your BluRay disc.

Good comment that cannot be overstated! But you didnt finish the "hard times" comment...

Strong men make good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times........... And the cycle continues.

Any guesses on where we are now? lol

Ya know I was really looking forward to that when it came out and to be honest I was really disappointed. I guess to me it just didnt have that camaraderie that the Band of Brothers did but it was still really good. I think I was just comparing it to B of B which I guess are big shoes to fill.

I think im gonna watch that again now that u mention it and have more of an open mind.

When you're done watching Band Of Brothers watch The Pacific, it's the companion piece to BoB.

I will have to check this out. Have you read any german accounts from D day? Normandy seemed like a posh outpost, all they did was drink wine and bang the local talent. It was crazy, there were orphanages on the front lines since the germans knocked up so many french women. Also the french loved the germans until the allied forces showed up and then it was "**** the germans."

There is a reason Vichy France was a thing. Crazy how France could have stopped the Blitzkrieg cold, but a breakdown in communication and a few poor decisions doomed France.
