I'm curious if you get any oil residue in the engine bay coming from the catch can filters with this setup? My old GT was always making a mess. I want to put a good oil separator setup on my current 86' and this is prolly the cleanest, simplest setup I have seen!
-Thanks

Nope, dry as can be. even the containers remain super clean. it would spit out when I had the breather on the valve cover but nothing when I changed to this setup.

Been a very slow few weeks since the last update. My Real Estate business has been absolutely taking off.

This last week I put all the wiring in the car and ended up feeding all the wires up front the trans tunnel to the back of the engine.

Here you can see where the wires exit.

This is how it looks coming up into the engine bay.

The interior is a complete and total mess right now with wires everywhere.

Anyhow, after it was all wired up this is the moment of truth..... and this is what happened.

The fuel pump isn't priming with key on. I sent a video to a friend of mine and he said he had the same issue... his was a bad ground. and just then I remembered!!!! I could see the ground wire sitting on the floor board...

Ran into the garage and sure enough... here she is.

Hooked it up and here is where we are at.

Now tomorrow I will go back out and check the fuel fittings for leaks a few times and then fire it up!

She's alive!

the first couple fires were a little rocky but its learning and I got the startup close. Here it is.

Little side note I find funny. I uploaded the video minutes ago. It has 3 views and one of them is me. I have one thumbs down already. Every video I upload gets one dislike. Appears I have one hater who subscribes and dislikes every video. Guess thanks for the view lol.

EDIT: must have read this post, dislike is now gone lol.

First shakedown trip around the block. I have been checking for leaks constantly since the EFI needs 60psi vs the 6.5 I was running. Everything feels dry and appears to be all good. Now I just need to bleed the brakes again as they feel a tad soft still. But here is the first trip down the road, my first impressions are that the cold start needs work. Warm start is good. My rpm hangs a tad, but overall bleeding into throttle I feel that the power comes on sooner and harder. I cant wait for a proper dyno tune.

Been putting on some miles lately. Working out the tune and getting into it more and more.

If anyone is on the fence coming from a carb to EFI... do it. 100% do it now!

The carb to EFI thing is so hard to convince some people of, but man, it really is night and day.

Recently did a simple bolt on Sniper kit on a buddys 72 Chevy truck with a 383.
He thought it was fast with the carb. I knew it was never right.
Had some back-alley mechanic install the Sniper and a couple hours later it was roasting the tires at any speed under 60. He swore it was a whole new motor.

Car looks good on the prowl!!

Not sure how I missed the EFI swap but that is awesome!
I’ve never liked carbs so this is very cool and exactly what I’ll do on my ‘66 GT350H
Looking forward to the Dyno comparison

Love it! Hope to get my 86 cleaned up and start getting it modded this spring and summer. Not sure where you are in Arizona, but I just sold my 2012 GT to a guy in Gilbert.

Not sure I will actually get it on the dyno to compare. We will see.

Nice, it looks mostly look stock for now, it's Kona Blue. I think he plans on putting a Procharger on it sometime next summer and doing a Boss or some type of upgraded manifold for now along with other upgrades next summer. It's base model 2012 5.0. I believe he told me he has a Raptor as well. He's like me and plans on during suspension work first. I think he said he was going to put OEM GT500 PP wheels on it.

I did finally find my 86 GT though to start with as my project car and it's a much better project car than I expected for the money.

Wow - super clean build, what great attention to detail! I'm presently planning a 363 build for my fox and am surfing the disinformation highway, trying to decide on each component for the motor- definitely have a tough time finding reliable info.

Were you happy with how your engine turned out? Good power? The cam sounds pretty lumpy, is that annoying for driving around town? Would you mind sharing your build sheet?

Thank you, I appreciate that.

My combo is great for cruising around and is not as radical as many think. its just loud is my only complaint, but different mufflers will solve that.

The build is basically AFR renegade 185's (many say way too small but it keeps the car tame) Edelbrock dual plane intake (performer rpm air gap). 10.2:1 compression, scat crank, eagle I beam rods, JE pistons. Custom grind cam. aluminum flywheel with McLeod rst clutch. If I could change anything it would be putting a standard flywheel in it. I have to feather the shit out of the clutch because there is so little rotating mass.

If you call Prestige Motorsports and speak with Doug you can let him know you are basically after my setup. He says he gets a lot of calls on the "suicidekings" engine setup. He can discuss if you want more peak power or whatever your other needs are.

I spoke to Doug - seems like a legit operation they have going over there.

Two more questions if you don't mind - what are your cam specs, and was the engine/car ever put on a dyno?

Its a custom grind cam and I don't recall the exact specs off the top of my head. I would have to dig up the spec card.

Car ended up making 450/450 to the tire. I gave up a ton of peak power to acheive the torque curve I wanted to reach.

Not sure what mufflers you have but maybe some Magnaflow or Borla would quiet it down. No idea how the drone would be though.
