I grew up with parents who would have a cup or two of black coffee before heading off to work. They would drink black coffee while at work too. Then they had black coffee with lunch and dinner. I have no idea how my parents could even get to sleep at night with all that caffeine coursing through their veins. I didn't start drinking coffee until I joined the Air Force and then I became addicted to it. Just like my parents I drink it black with no accoutrements, the way god intended. :D

You build up a tolerance to it. Its like it doesnt even have any effect on me in the morning any more. When people who arent regular cofee drinkers have some its like drinking cocaine to them lol

The real question is, do you feel shitty without it?

Never liked hot coffee. I wanted to start drinking something to help me stay awake on my hour drive to work and 1.5 hour drive home and didn’t want to drink energy drinks. I’ve found that cold brew coffee is better tasting than hot coffee to me anyway. Then I discovered nitro cold brew and haven’t looked back.

I can't do cold coffee, absolutely disgusting

Gradschool I would have 1 HUGE cup of coffee+milk in my thermos (*edit* just checked size, 30oz thermos) at 0530 and then I'd have 2 or 3 cups of black coffee after lunch until I left my office which was anywhere between 7pm and 2am.

Now, I'm on rotating shifts so coffee is a must. If I'm up early and actually making breakfast, it's 1 cup while cooking, 2nd while eating. Then I usually have 1 more when I get to work. 2 if I got less than 5hrs of sleep. So, normal day = 2-3 cups, not enough sleep day = 3-4 cups. Try to not drink any caffeine within ~6hrs of bedtime.

We have keurig with the little thing you can put grinds in. I think she got tired of "making a mess" while ripping/cutting the cup open, dumping the grinds, cutting the net, rinsing, and recycling the k cups (all of which was a choice to do, not a necessity). So now we just make a mess scooping the grinds, pouring them in the cup, brew, opening the plastic cup, scraping the grinds out, rinsing the cup, and letting it air dry.

If you’re going to buy a good espresso machine, I suggest you go with a 2 group one. These machine are not cheap and maintenance will be involved.

I can tell you that caffeine has no affect on me if I don't

The only thing I don't like about that KBGV brewer is the hot plate. I have never, ever had good coffee from a brewer hot plate beyond 30 minutes. I have found over the years that insulated carafes maintain the flavor best. How long do you keep the glass carafe on the hot plate before you notice a difference in taste?

Not a fan of hotplates either but the coffee doesnt last that long for it to burn. lol. Anything beyond 15 min on the burner is too much for me. I'll dump it and make more. I grind my own beans too. Makes all the difference in the world to great tasting coffee.

So you pour your second cup in about 10 minutes? Me, I must drink much more slowly because I pour my second cup about 40 minutes from my first pour. If you pour through 2 cups in under 15 minutes, I don't see the point with having a hot plate. If I pour my second cup in 10 minutes with my insulated carafe, it's as hot as the first. ??

I make coffee twice a day for my family of 4. My coffee machine holds 10 cups(European size) which translates to about 4 cups of about 15-17oz each. There is no leftover coffee most of the time. I wanted the latest version of this machine and it is only offered with a hot plate.

you are wrong but close.

if you aren't grinding beans and using good water you aren't drinking good coffee.

I don't drink sweat tea either! Just straight up whether hot or cold. Not sure how these Southerner's can stomach their sweat tea. It's like syrup!

U.M.

Agreed on the syrup comparison! Sweet tea is too sweet.

The worst is when you order unsweet tea and take that first sip, only to taste that sugar syrup when you weren't expecting it when they mess up your order.

"

Most places brew and sweeten a weak tea to start with then add ice which waters it down further ending up with pale sugar water. Proper sweet tea should be almost as black as coffee and not over sweetened.

black colored black tea seems like it would be overly strong lol.

As for coffee, I just use a simple drip machine but I do like it with a just bit of cream and sugar.

Just curious. I love the hottest water possible in a coffee maker, but unfortunately most manufacturers limit the temperature to less that many would prefer, especially if you use a liquid creamer. Do you know what temperature the water is set to?

I've been down the road of coffee makers ranging from $15 Walmart specials to ones that cost over $100 and not one of them was better than a French press or pour over. Even cheap coffee tastes better using either of the two.
