I started looking for a new toy earlier this year and was shocked at how much the fox bodies had gone up in value. It seems to be driving up the value of the SN95s in my area too, though I'm seeing more ads with higher prices than I'm seeing ads disappearing, so maybe it's more of a perceived value by the sellers that has actually increased.

I ended up with a nice 2011 GT Premium for half what decent Foxes are going for around here. o_O

Hard to justify the cost of these today unless its just a weekend cruiser or one of those bucket list cars Anything more than that, you can start with a much better platform for the same or less money(03/04 Mach 1, 2011+ GT). But that wasn't the question... I see no difference in value from one year to the next. The real change in value would would be a move up to a 93 Cobra.

I don’t see how the Mach 1 or coyote would be a better starting platform.

What I meant by that was that if there’s no race track near by there will probably be less people looking to build a race car, so they should be cheaper.

Someone else said it. These cars are pulling big money because people that couldn't afford them new as a young one can now. People are buying these for nostalgic purposes. It's why low mile stock ones are so expensive.

Even if you pull the engine and install forged pistons and rods, it will still probably be cheaper.

I often look at people about my age. We were 16 in the late 90's or so, dropping 5K for a clean stock fox. Some people in my age bracket had the car a couple years, beat on it, enjoyed it, blew it up and sold it. Now they are mid to upper 30's. That is long enough for plenty to go to college, get a career, get a house, and start a family. They use to make $7 an hour and now net 7K a month. So if it takes 2 months income to buy a clean fox, they're ok with that. The ones complaining about foxbody prices are like I said in my prior post, someone working in a factory at $15 an hour in Ohio. They are made because they can't afford a clean fox like they could in 2000. Sorry, 20 years changes things.

I was 16 in 1991, I remember going to the dealership looking at these. I wanted one so bad but insurance was CRAZY, even when I was 21 and had a full time job, I couldn't buy one cuz of that.

I remember buying my first mustang, a 91 oxford white GT back in 1998. I was 18 years old.

I paid 6,800 dollars. Car payment was 225 a month and insurance was about 140ish a month. I have no idea how I made it work. My step dad co-signed. He said "one late car payment and the car is mine". I used my weekly lunch money for gas. And I was making 8-9 dollars an hour.

Wow what?

assuming we’re taking about drag racing both cars are significantly heavier than a fox and the coyote cars have a 3 link style suspension.

right off the bat they’re at a disadvantage.

You can bolt on a 7k turbo to the coyote and go fast but you can do the same thing to a stock 5.0 for less.

I paid 10k for this ‘91 notch a year ago. It has 100k miles and I’m in the process of restoring the entire interior. I probably overpaid a little, but I wanted it and will enjoy it when it’s finished, you can’t put a price on that.

Bingo. Couldn't explain it better.
My ****ing roommate hoards the damn things. He has 3 now, recently sold one, and has owned at least 4 others that I remember in the last few years.

You think so? I have all brand new interior pieces to install, when I get around to it.
my buddy bought this yesterday for 14k.
145000 miles. Black interior using oem parts but not factory black. Repainted factory color. Few minor upgrades
