I’ve added some nerf bars since this pic but just love the hydro. Has different tone every angle you look at it. Reminds me a lot of the Azure color that used to come on the Mach’s back 03/04.

Should note also has 33’s and pro comp level. Installed from dealer.

GM in non-binding MOU with Nikola for supplying Hydrotec fuel cell system
Nov. 30, 2020 8:18 AM ET|About: General Motors Company (GM)|By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor

General Motors (NYSE:GM) and Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) are on watch after the companies signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding on a global supply agreement for GM to provide its Hydrotec fuel cell system for Nikola's Class 7/8 semi-trucks.

Under the potential agreement referenced in the MoU, GM would engineer its Hydrotec fuel cell system to the specifications mutually agreed upon by both companies. In addition, GM and Nikola will discuss the appropriate scope of services that GM would provide for the integration of the fuel cell system into Nikola's vehicles. It is expected that the potential arrangement would be cost plus, and that Nikola would pay upfront for the capital investment for the capacity.

GM and Nikola will also discuss the potential of a supply agreement for GM's versatile Ultium battery system for Nikola's Class 7/8 trucks.

"This supply agreement recognizes our leading fuel cell technology expertise and development," says GM exec Doug Parks.

"Providing our Hydrotec fuel cell systems to the heavy-duty class of commercial vehicles is an important part of our growth strategy and reinforces our commitment toward an all-electric, zero-emissions future," he adds.

The deal is smaller in scope than was originally planned.

It's funny watching obvious pandering from GM for a market that isn't mature, especially considering the adoption rate and lack of infrastructure to handle their new EV utopia.

Cadillac is going to be all electric and the challenge with selling Cadillac is that they rarely have standalone dealerships. $200k is a pretty small sum for dealerships. GM is right. Either they are in or they are out and GM wants to have the right brand image for Cadillac.

Dealer franchises are an antiquated business model anyway, in need of a major revamp. Tesla, for all their quirks and issues, will break that paradigm as well. It'll be a political battle though, with the dealer lobby not going quietly.

Dealerships spend a lot of money on local advertising and political contributions.

LOL. I just read that news on Fox and was going to post it here. You beat me to it. $200K is a lot of money for dealers to have to spend to upgrade their facilities for EV charging and servicing upgrades. But, they don't have much choice. Upgrade, or you're out! Other dealerships, of course, will be faced with similar upgrades.

Nick, will your own dealership have to spend a lot of money for upgrades? Will smaller dealership be forced out as a result of not being able to invest that amount of money in upgrades?

Smaller dealers have been getting forced out for the last 20 years. The manufacturers' are always looking for them to upgrade their showrooms. I miss the days when every decent small town had at least 1 of the big 3 there. The dealership I bought my F-350 from literally only had one person in the entire sales dept.

I must say, Dodge has a hell of a marketing dept!

They have had one of the best teams for well over a decade.

GM eyes banking charter for auto lending business - WSJ
Nov. 27, 2020 3:16 PM ET|About: General Motors Company (GM)|By: Carl Surran, SA News Editor

General Motors (NYSE:GM) wants to get back into the banking business, and plans to apply for a banking charter that would allow its lending unit to hold deposits and expand its auto finance business, WSJ reports.

General Motors Financial Company has been talking to federal and state banking regulators for months about forming an industrial loan company and could file applications to do so as early as next month, according to the report.

GM used this type of charter to operate GMAC, its former lending arm that nearly failed under the weight of subprime mortgages and was bailed out by the U.S. government during the 2008 financial crisis.

Can't wait to bail them out on all those 96 month 8.5% notes they write.

Yep, my home town population 2,777 had one of the better Ford dealers for selling pickups. Ford demanded they sell more cars and they couldn't hit the goals and Ford shut em down.

Brilliant move by GM

Access to "free" capital with virtually zero downside risk if Nikola goes belly up.

This country (USA) cannot support electric vehicles in the quantity that tree huggers and government infused corporations want. Unless there is miracle in battery technology, or they get real and develop hydrogen fuel cell then all electric en masse won't happen.

The plan is to make it so damn expensive to own and operate a vehicle most people will have to move back to urban centers where govt. funded mass transit can fulfill all they needs of the population.

Global Warming Solutions develops sodium based battery for EV
Dec. 1, 2020 4:34 AM ET|About: Global Warming Solution... (GWSO)|By: Niloofer Shaikh, SA News Editor

The research and development department of Global Warming Solutions (OTCPK:GWSO) has found a very cost-effective way of producing a solid electrolyte for batteries that can be used for EV based on sodium as an active material in the battery anodes versus lithium which is more commonly used.

The company has already started laboratory testing of the battery’s electrochemical cells and is in the final stages of filing a worldwide patent application for a new EV technology based on this sodium-based device.

GWSO Chief Executive Officer Dr. Vladimir Vasilenko noted that the low cost of sodium batteries has expanded the market for the sale of our new product. In addition to the electric car industry, other market niches are opening up, such as major capacity batteries for electric ocean-going ships, electric boats and yachts. Existing markets, such as the market for stationary electrical energy storage, will also expand significantly. At the same time, the development of battery production will not be limited by the rate of lithium supply. “We plan to double the sales of our products year over year, ”said Dr. Vasilenko.

Hyundai plans for huge push into electric vehicles
Dec. 2, 2020 7:51 AM ET|About: Hyundai Motor Company (HYMLF)|By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor

Hyundai (OTCPK:HYMLF) unveiled its electric vehicle platform called E-GMP, which it says will be the base for an EV future for the Hyundai and Kia brands.

The South Korean automaker says vehicles on the new EV platform can generate as much as 600 horsepower, will be targeted for 300 miles of driving range and should include a high-performance model.

By 2025, Hyundai expects to have 23 battery-electric vehicles in its lineup.

"E-GMP will be highly effective in expanding the Group's EV leadership position as it will enable the company to enlarge its EV line-up over a relatively short period through modularisation and standardisation," reads a statement by Hyundai on the new platform.

Suddenly, I like Porsche a lot more. Hard to believe fuel availability will be there.

Porsche looks to e-fuels as way to keep traditional engines an option
Dec. 2, 2020 2:56 PM ET|About: Porsche Automobil Holding SE (POAHY)|By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor

Porsche (OTCPK:pOAHY) is investing around $24M in the development of e-fuels to replace gasoline in non-electric vehicles.

The approach would allow the brand to keep an traditional engine model viewed as environmentally-friendly alongside its EV entries.

E-fuels are produced by a complex process using water, hydrogen and carbon dioxide to create a "renewable methanol" by filtering from CO2 the air and combining it with hydrogen from water to produce synthetic methanol.
