Wondering if one year is more desirable and/or more valuable in the range of 88 - 93. Should I expect to pay more for a 93 with 25k miles vs a 88 with 25k miles.

Just looking for perspective and any info that would be helpful here as I look to buy one.

93 was the only year that didn't use forged pistons....for the purist that could affect the value. Especially on a low mile car.

A purist wants a stock car. Stock is stock. Besides the block will fail before the pistons do.
An 88 is worth less to a lot unless its a cali car, because they're still speed density.

Yes, this ^^^ speed density. Also, not that its a huge deal and won't affect price but some guys prefer the older non airbag steering wheel.

All I know are that people on the east coast are on crack with their prices of fox bodies.

Glad I picked up my 4 eye roller for 900 in Washington when I was there.

that's not an east coast thing. you can't find them cheap here either. My roommate sold a running 4 cyl notch for $4500. A friend is going to pick up a fairly stock 93 notch for $14,000 as we speak.

I've owned both the early and late aero foxes. I liked the later ones better, even if the differences are pretty subtle on the interior and exterior. Just my two cents. But at the same time I wouldn't pay appreciably more for one because the differences aren't a big deal.

Damn. Wish I could have gotten that kind of money for my 4cyl notch. Haven't even had any offers lately on it either.

Someone will pay more for what they use to have, 10, 20, 30 years ago. We can all ramble off the difference of a 88 vs a 93, but if someone wants a notch, and they use to have a 88 in high school 20 years ago, that likely means they like those seats, the no airbag wheel, maybe even the 10 holes, etc.

BUT, factors like interior and exterior color, plus transmission type play a big factor too.

and to add to this, those subtly differences means absolutely nothing if you plan on doing a resto mod swap. At that point, it doesn't matter if it is a mass air or speed density car. then again, finding an unmolested fox is a task, finding a coupe is that much harder.

Yeah prices are crazy but that's cause demand is high for them. Look how many members post here looking for coupes and like y'all see people are buying 4 bangers just to convert them . I meet some friends yesterday at a car meet and I got asked 4 different times if I'll sell it. Op if you see a nice one and you want it just buy it.

There shouldn’t be much of a price difference on the years. It will all come down to condition. The subtle difference will be subjective and mostly come down to personal preference. IMO, the year has nothing to do with anything. It’s the condition of the car.
Example: a cherry 88 will cost more than a shit 92, simple.

The 93 you find may have come With a factory CD player. If you are into stock loaded options. I don’t remember if 88s came with 10 hole or pony wheels - Another stock appearance item to consider. You said low mileage 25k mi so it seems stock unmolested may be important to you.

Another reason I think prices are up is that Fox coupes are LIGHT. Toss any big power engine up front and it turns into a rocketship. To me it looks like a shoebox, but they are kings of huge power drag cars for a reason. They were everywhere for cheap 10 years ago.

It's not just that. Clean, near stock low mile cars are way up. Those aren't what's being cut up to race.
