Aloha, I was lucky enough to with the golden ticket from Lethal Performance for $5,000 this morning!! I was pretty sure I just ordered the last of the mods I wanted for my 2003 DSG Vert that just kit 5k miles this month. Currently it has 2.76 billet flow pully, 90mm metco aux idler and the other 100mm pulleys, gates belt, JLT CAI, SCT handheld tuner with 91 octane tune, bassani X pipe with no cats, bassani mufflers, H&R race springs and AFS rep wheels with 305 Nitto G555R's in the back so it hooks ok for now. I wanted to keep this care true as it is very special since my father also has a DSG vert, ill inset link to original post.

https://svtperformance.com/threads/finally-bought-the-same-spec-cobra-my-father-once-had.1180725/

I live in Hawaii and flew up to NM last year and drove the car to LA to ship it home. I just ordered stifflers full length subframes, BBK throttle body (will be possibly obsolete soon for me?) NGK TR6 injectors and SCT BA2600 90mm MAF meter

Basically my question is since these were supposed to be the last parts for the cobra but have always toyed with the idea of a Whipple. I think this would be a golden opportunity and make for a neat story if I took the gift card and got a Gen 5 3.0 whipple as they are currently 15% off so I believe they are $5,185 on lethal performance. What do you guys think and also very importantly what are the major supporting mods I would need? on a side note I don't mind buying the Whipple now then just sitting on it while I accumulate the supporting mods, I usually try and drag on the process since I enjoy it

Aloha and happy holidays!

If you are limited to 91 Octane, pass on the larger blower. Been there done that.

Sent from my SM-G975U using the svtperformance.com mobile app

All i've seen on island is 92 octane, as Bluewrx2001 said do you think torco would work? I am not concerned about making maximum HP/TQ on a dyno for the blower. I just wana have fun while driving and maybe 600-650 tops if I took it to a dyno. I appreciate your input!

Upate* sorry I was busy at work when I first typed this message but too excited to share the news with you guys and get feedback so I could hopefully make a decision before BF is over. just to calrify do you think this would be more suitable for me needs? Im honestly a noob and this seems less complete of a kit so it looks like I could go to the accufab TB but im not sure about pulley-ing down or when I see "crusher" version but same displacement while trying to look up reviews. main things is I want to maintain a decent SC wine if possible and around 600-650hp/tq rage but pretty sure I can only get 92 octane

Congrats on winning the golden ticket. If your goal is 600 on pump gas you would probably be happier with a 2.3 Whipple. It will be a lot more snappier on the street. You will also have money left over for supporting mods.

Congrats! Grab the Whipple. For as little as you’ll drive it you can just add Boostane with every tank and enjoy that extra power. Other option, VMP 2.3 TVS? Probably matches a pump gas Terminator better.
Congrats again.

Ahhh ok yea snappier on the streets is definitely right up my alley! So far if i get the 2.3 Whipple im guessing I will need the return style fuel system? sorry this level of terminator is unknown to me so please bear with me. I see this option Lethal Performance 99-04 4V Budget Plus Return Style Fuel System (Cobra / Mach-1)

but not sure which fuel pumps and injectors would be most appropriate for my application

Congrats on the golden ticket! That is pretty cool!!

Your cart looks good, but the return fuel is overkill for a 2.3 whipple shooting for 600 on pump gas. You'll definitely have room to grow with that set up!! Especially if you ever go with e85.

2.3 Whipple with a boost a pump and 60 lbs injectors with modified fpdm and pprv delete and maybe upgrade your stock pumps to the improved Ford GT pumps (improved to handle e85 just in case) and an appropriate upgraded MAF. Run about 15-16 psi on the blower!
That should have smiling for quite some time. No need for a return fuel system with what your goal is.
I'm sure there may be a few small bits and pieces I'm missing but others will probably chime in.
Congrats and good luck!
Ken
Edit: Do a search for fuel pump wiring upgrade as well. It should go hand in hand with a modified fpdm and a boost-a-pump.

Thank you, that's the setup that worked out very well for us on my wife's car.
I'll edit and shorten my post above you.

For comparison sake, that setup with the correct upper and 4# lower combo performed just as good as a VMP Gen1 back in the day. Been out of the Cobra stuff, so IDK what version they on now.

If you go 2.3 Whipple, 60 lb injectors, dual GT pumps, dual or upgraded fpdm and an upgraded maf and a tune will be what you need to meet your goals. I would also recommend a Fore Innovations fuel hat with the gt pumps, and do the wire upgrade for the pumps.

Congrats on the golden ticket! That’s pretty awesome.

which island you on? If on Oahu like me you’ll never be able to use a bigger blower, The 2.3 will be plenty. If you need any help message me.

Wow awesome I appreciate everyone's feedback for the decision! I will post an updated cart by tonight or tomorrow morning (hawaii time) just to keep you folks posted as I would like to place the order by tomorrow night at the latest so I dont miss the extra savings!

Yes im on Oahu as well! could you message me if you don't mind and ill send you my #, I don't think I have enough post to directly message you and Ill ask for your input

From the sounds of it im thinking 2.3 Whipple, if no need return fuel system ill opt out on that and just upgrade me current one with the ID1050's, Ford GT dual duel pumps and ill have to look into those fpdm and pprv deletes since this is all new to me. Just wana make sure I order the correct parts for the job etc

If you get the Fore Innovations hat the pprv is already deleted. That's one of the reasons I recommended it. The other reason is, you have to modify the stock hat to make the gt pumps work which I am not a fan of. The Fore hat will come with the pumps already installed and ready to drop in. All you have to do is wire it up. I put the link to the hat in my last post.

Sorry I didn't see the link in the original post but i just checked it out, this is super helpful thank you! I talked to Kevin (Intervention302) and he was super helpful and gave me his time and opinion and ultimately recommended me to a reliable tuner (Kevin Hand i believe is the tuners name) and I will be in contact with him for the specifics and my goals. Hopefully he can make this fuel hat work for my application! super helpful
