Hey guys I am thinking about buying a used set of 6 piston Brembo front calipers and installing them on my 04 Cobra. There off a newer Mustang GT. I like a good project and it would be different.
Im a Millwright and a welder for 22 years.
I have 18 inch wheels. I know I will have to fab new mounting brackets. Just wondering if anyone did this and how do you like it. Not interested in the Cadillac swap Calipers.
Thanks!

Sounds awesome.

I have the 4 Piston Brembos from an 07ish GT500 on my 03 Cobra. I have the Vintage Venom adapters to get the calipers to work. From my experience here are things to consider. Get the front and rear to work on the car, not just the front. I have not been able to drive my set up much yet, but the little I have driven it I realized the brakes are not balanced correctly. I will need to install a proportioning valve and/or upgrade the rears on my set up. Look at how the new calipers you want to use are mounted, are they axial mounted or radial mounted? I had to install spacers behind the rotor to get the 07ish brembos to line up with the calipers (the spacers are part of the kit). If there is some way to swap spindles vs using adapters, that is what I would recommend. State the obvious here, but also keep in mind your wheel offset will likely change, so your current wheels may or may not work. Also, not all 18" wheels work with the 6-piston brembos.

Maybe you have seen these, but if not check them out to get some ideas.

Thanks for the info! I am looking into it. I agree would not be balanced at first. I do not race its just a street car. I'd like to do something different though but maybe if it is too much of a chore I will just do the Cadillac Brembos. I see what you mean with the brackets. Thanks for the info!

I had been researching this as well... I wanted to do the brembo 6 piston 14" gts system and to do a custom rear set up.... but super pricey

I'm thinking baer tho. It fits both wheel set ups I'm planning on and they can make me a custom rear caliper i just have to fab a E brake bracket

I think that would be an awesome swap project to do! They may actually be fairly balanced to the rears as compared to the cobra set up. What are the chances you can update the rears? Then it would be balanced, unless the rear calipers on the newer mustangs are the same as The cobras? I absolutely love the 14 inch four piston stop texting I put on my cobra, they are amazing

Update! So I decided to go with the 4 piston Cadillac calipers like alot of guys are doing. Ordered a used set on Ebay. I do powder coating so I will get them fitted then Powder coat them myself. Right now I am 500$ Canadian in them with the calipers, 2 rebuild kits. Just need a set of pads. My car is a street car so from what I was reading I should be happy with the 4-pistons over stock.
