I just browsed through the specs and changes on the upcoming 2021 Edge (ST specifically), and noticed that they're going from an 8-speed auto to a 7-speed auto. Anyone have any additional info on this? Nick?

I test drove an 8-speed 2019 Edge ST and really liked that transmission. Wondering/hoping if the new 7-speed is equal or better than the 8-speed, if that mention of a 7-speed for 2021 is correct.

I do like the new 12" display and interior enhancement.

Maybe the Ford Media article (October) had a typo, because I'm seeing 8-speed transmission on every other site that I'm checking.

It was a 6 speed Bob that was upgraded to an 8 speed with rev matching.

Oops! Typo, Brett. I meant I test drove a 2019 with an 8-speed. I'll edit my original post.

I read an article from media.ford.com this morning that said the 2021 Edge had a 7-speed. Didn't sound right since the 2020 is an 8-speed and Ford isn't making big platform changes for the 2021 MY. I thinking it must be a typo and that the 2021 Edge will continue to use the same 8-speed.

I'll ask around. One contact said probably a typo.

They should easily bring that up to 400tq on the ST and bump the hp to 350.

I test drove a 2020 edge ST and was impressed with the power, handling, brakes for a suv.

PBD got a tune for those. Buddy did it to his but said it was weird cause the traction control still comes on when he launches hard or breaks the tire loose. Thing is pretty dope for an SUV tho. Drives like a car.

I had a Livernois tune on my 2016 Edge Sport. It was making around 380hp. Their tune for the 2019-2020 Edge ST is better and is north of 400hp, I believe. Maybe 425 or so. That is what I'd want to do if I bought a 2021 or 2022 Edge ST. The tune brings the ST up to what it should have been from the factory. ;)

If only they'd give us better front "performance" seating, instead of continuing to use the old Edge Sport seats. They're comfy, but not that supportive. It really needs some good side bolsters.

The older 6 speed just needed a better tune to compensate for the power. The ratios were perfect. The 8 speed wants to jump around WAY too much for that engine. It has a massive power band and it just shifts back and forth between 3-4-5 around town when it doesnt need to.
