I'd probably just slap in one of these:

5.3L MODULAR STROKER SHORTBLOCK

Is the piston choice the best for high boost? I recall reading something about the relief cuts. Maybe not.

Always in favor of a 5.3 BB/Stroker, whether
na or boosted.

I thought I had heard there being issues with these keeping head gasket seal at high boost due to there being less surface area.

It May be...admittedly I am a NA guy.

There are a few FI BB-STROKER folks in SVTP who can speak on that.

I know dry sleeving has boost limits...

The guys that were having issues were making in the 4 digit realm. I want to say one or two were close to 1500, but don't quote me on that. I remember it being way above wherever I was aiming for so I wasn't worried.

Relief cuts are dependent on the cams you choose.

Unless something has changed this was a one size fits all kinda thing. The relief that's shown in the pic is for the 3V head. 2v and 4v don't need that. But that used to be the only way to get it. If that's changed then even better for the us 2v and 4v peeps.

Wow, an engine builder that will stand by his work..........that is a rare one.
X1000^^^ Almost unheard of. It’s a race motor, shit happens is the typical response.

Sorry about your luck OP. What should have been a fulfilling day wasn’t.
