Spoke to BMR again today. They have stopped production on them and have revised the jig. Arrapently they have found that the rear plates are about an inch too short, exactly what I was seeing too. I have also informed them about the height and header clearance on the pass side.
Mine us heading back to them tomorrow, hopefully. Hurricane ZETA put a pretty big hurting on new orleans last night and we are out of power everywhere.
They said the plan is to have the jig redone and have longer plates built. Obviously I won' know this until I get a new one back in my hands.
I'll update things as I know them

Nice, I emailed them yesterday and referenced the thread and showed photos of my measurements. If they don’t get back to me in the next couple days then I’ll call them.

Wonder if that includes the standard K-members

Glad to hear BMR found the issue and is addressing the situation. Mistakes happen, its how you handle it that counts.

Man. I have a serious issue. I was trying to finish this off today and found that the new BBK shorty 1615's hit hard on the passenger side. Not even close. There is over a .25" gap before the motor mount even hits the K-Member and the header is landing on the k-member. This is a deal killer now... Somehow this whole thing seems off. Look at the motor mount bolt. it is bottomed out but the k-member is so far from the block. it is the same on the driver side as well (at least that header clears).

That's the same spot it hits on my buddy's car. But he has stock manifolds so we were able to get the engine tightened down. I'm beginning to think it might not be a motor mount issue like I was originally thinking.

Same problem I had. I cut over an inch off to clear my bassanis. BMR will have mine in their hands next week, haven't be able to ship mine back due to Hurricane killing all the power around me.
More than one issue so far

Doesn't someone in this thread have a MM k member in their garage? Can they look at the mounts on that one? I want to say the top of those mounts are bent out to clear the exhaust.

That would be me. I'll take a look after I get home from trick or treating with my kids and get them down for bed.

First is the driver side mount next obviously the passenger.

From what I can tell the mounts on the MM k do not take up as much space which I believe would allow them to clear the headers. You can clearly see the bend of the mounts starting at the top of the slot that the motor mount stud drops into. My guess is this provides at least an inch of clearance.

I think BMR made some big mistakes here with their mounts in an attempt to not make them look like anyone else's. I remember them stating something along the lines of them making sure their parts don't look like rip offs of others.

One good thing here is that this would actually be an easy fix for them. Hopefully the get this stuff squared away.

If anyone needs any additional pictures feel free to ask and tag me.

Thanks for the pictures. I think they also have some other mechanical issues here. It would appear that the K mounts are too high as the motor mounts are already bottomed out. Also, you can see the huge gap between the K and motor mounts. So, I think somehow they are too high and too far apart at the same time?

I’m going to call tomorrow to get an RMA. But, before I send it back, I want to see if I can get some meaningful comparison measurements against the stock K.

No problem.

Your assessment of the motor mounts being maxed out is however incorrect. They have to be slotted in that manner to allow the engine to be put in place and removed. I'll post some pictures of my k member mounted on my engine that is sitting on a stand and further explain in a few.

I know what you mean, the slots are there to allow the motor mount studs to clear when lifting it straight up. I think the BMR mounts are a bit big because they use the tubes for support vs the bent steel, and the tubes need more space.

I think the problem lies in the combo of the bassani mids/BMR K because If you look at both the kooks and ARH headers, the #5 tube goes up and back before coming down, giving ample room for the mount. The bassani design doesn’t do that.

Agreed on the slotting. But I believe that this is not correctly configured on the BMR. The mount bolts are already resting at the bottom of the slot and there is major gap between K and mount. The mount should be resting on the K. Not resting solely on the bolt.

Here are some shots of the k member mounted to my engine sitting on a stand. Keep in mind I can't get it perfectly squared up and flush to the mounts because I am bolting it in with just the single motor mount bolts. Its a major pain to make it perfect.

I know these are stock exhaust logs but you can clearly see how much room I have.

@SilverGT1 I think it's pretty clear something is seriously wrong with your mount brackets. I agree you shouldn't have a gap like that.

I have the MM K and control arms sitting in my shopping cart. I really wanted the BMR to work. Would have saved me hundreds of dollars. Now it’s costing me time too. I have to see what they will do regarding return. Will they refund or replace. I’ll let ya’ll know what I learn tomorrow.
