Do any of the 13/14 original owners here or recent buyers still running on the factory installed Goodyears. When I bought my brand new 2014 GT500 I only had the Goodyears on the car for 25 miles before replacing them with Michelin Pilots. Sold those original Goodyears. Now with my latest purchase a 2013 GT500 back in August the car has the original GY's with 3175 miles. They have been replaced and was wondering if they should just be recycled or still have any use for them. Not using them for garage ornaments because I don't like the tires....lol. I don't care about them being dated to the 13 Shelby because they will not be going back on my car.

What have you done with your original factory installed Goodyears?

I sold both my car's original GYs and the ones that came on the Base wheel set I bought from another forum member years ago. In addition to being relatively worthless until/unless heated-up, original GYs are now 6-8 years old. As such, they're all past their prime. I see them as useful for only two things - smoke shows (exercise caution here, due to their age) and recycling.

Knowing they are at an old age where they are pretty much useless and even with only 3K miles on them they are slick like hockey pucks without being heated up. Will most likely recycle them. Might find someone here locally to use for a smoke show....lol. People around here by all sorts of crap on CL if the price is low enough.

I have the stock gy on my 20s and can't wait to get a different tire on em. Some type of dr, was thinking mickey thompson et streets s
More traction is a good thing. Just keep in mind, you're moving the weakest link from your tires, likely to your clutch.

Don't overlook the Toyo 888.
These are certainly a good choice. I have a friend with '14 modified very similarly to mine. He upgraded to TOYO PROXES R888R before our last time at the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack. His launches were all better than mine, making me want the tires, until he discovered his (stock) clutch was fried from the day's activities, at only ~5K miles on the car. For reference, my stock clutch is still holding well at ~32K miles, having made 30-40 drag passes on Michelins.

Are they drags or street tires? And what size for stock rim?
I can't speak for @COOL COBRA, who I THINK runs widened Alcoas, but my friend went with 285/35ZR20s on his stock SVTPP wheels.

^^This. I do have widened Alcoa rears & run a 315/30/20 888.
My buddy Ray in Arkansas has identical mods to my car. 2.4, Twin 67 TB, tune. I'm making 675 RWHP. He is identical.
He went with the 888 in stock size. As I predicted, his car has been transformed from spin city to 100% hook!
I've got DR's on other cars. Yes they stick BUT get a squishy lateral feeling in faster corners. And in rain? It's like driving on ice no kidding.
The 888 due to its compound has incredible straight line traction & can't wait for the next corner. They damn sure grip.
I can slow roll, foot on brake at walking speed. Completely try to dent the floor on the hit. The car does not break traction. If I hit 2nd hard, it'll chirp once & that's it.
By then, the (insert other fast car) has already lost.
Incredible tire!

The 888 was originally a road course tire. R compound superior grip.
I've yet to see a single person NOT love these tires.
DR's are great but have setbacks. The 888 is a DR in disguise. All I can say is get some & you'll instantly be another advocate!

R888s, are a tad bit harsher on the ride vs a MPSS.

And I have tested the R888 in the rain, through standing water at 65mph.

Aaaaaaand, I tested em on interstate 95 with wet pavement by stabbing the **** out of the gas pedal in 2nd.

Sadly, they still have limitations under WOT

Test vehicle was my 04 Cobra

So no good from a 40 but 60 is good in 2nd?
@cool cola. Thanks man I think I will try them out!
Unfortunately at my power level traction is becoming a constant pain in my ass. If you're under 750whp the R888Rs will be perfect.

Was thinking about the 305x35x20s for the stockers. Think they would be better then the 315x30x20s. Thoughts?

Yes go with the 305 888s, the 315s fit perfect on my 11inch wide wheels, I wouldn't want them on a 9.5 inch wheel.

I bow to others with first-hand experience running that large a tire on stock wheels. FWIW, however, Michelin recommends nothing wider than a 285 on 9.5" wheels.
