Like I said, we are a physical labor driven business. Hopefully everything will work out for you. I just wanted to share what I have seen, which I felt was very similar. Either way, the new employer should be open and willing to communicate with you.

I appreciate the info and perspective.

This person hasn't exactly been Johnny on the spot either so I hope that is the real issue.

If the previous injuries are not related to the job requirements and won’t impact your ability to perform them, I don’t see how they could impact you passing the physical. I assume the delay is due to something else- the HR person you’re working with, vendors used for the physical, drug test, background check if applicable, etc.

Do you know who your manager will be? If so, I would get in touch with them and let him/her know what’s going on. They obviously want to have you so they have an incentive to help move things along. And they are internal to the organization so they have better access to the right people. If you don’t know who your manager will be, perhaps you know a higher level HR person there to talk to?

No neither of the injuries have had a lasting impact on my job performance or physical mobility. They were 6-7 years ago with one requiring a minimally invasive procedure and time to correct.

The drug test was completed the same day I took the physical. It was actually the first part. When I say completed I mean that the sample was actually tested and I was told I passes it.

I am going to try and contact this person one more time this morning and it they don't respond I'll be calling my boss.

Why would you five your notice, without having a new job?

I was given a start date and an offer contingent on me passing a physical.

Had this same person been on top of scheduling the physical I would have been able to give notice afterwards.

I essentially had to give notice when I did due both schedules and when the new job needed me to start.

I can also pull back my resignation paperwork at my current job if needed. My boss would be happy to do so as well.

The fact that you had to call back to push these people to get a physical done kind of tells me they can take you or leave you. If they really needed you they would expedite this process I would think. I say if you don’t hear from them just show up on your start date and see what happens.

I get what you're saying but the odd part is I know they're %50 under staffed at the moment due to unexpected retirements.

Like I said if I don't hear from this person this morning I am calling my boss who offered me the job and see what happens.

If they jerk me around I'll simply tell them no thanks and pull back my resignation paperwork at my current job.

The ONE good thing that could come of this is if it all falls through the wife is willing to start looking at new state to live in.

You'll be driving to your old job from another state?

I dont fallow how you got that?

What I was saying is that if this job falls through and I have to stay at my current one my wife is willing to finally start looking at leaving Commiefornia.

This job that I THINK I got is a unicorn in my field and pays extremely well so I was willing to stay for it. Sounds crazy I know but the difference is working nights vs no nights and about $16 and hour more pay.

So your wife is moving to another state, and you are staying in CA with your old job?

So confused.

If you signed your offer letter and have a start date, just show up on your start date and work.

I never signed an offer letter, that's the other shitty part I left out. It was an offer over the phone and an email signed by my boss with a start date and a starting wage.

I'll get it all figured out today one way or another and report back this evening.

Ok one last time lol.

Nobody is leaving the state unless this job falls through. If it does however at that point I will stay at my current job and begin the process with my wife for us to move out of state. We need to find something suitable in a red state and obviously go where the work is.

This job is far to good and pays way to much to pass up and is worth staying in California if I still get it.

This could be an issue with lazy/garbage HR. Unfortunately management doesn't always check up on stuff like that.

Last job my wife had was that way, she had to reach out to them after accepting an offer to find out her start date. They gave her one after a few weeks of silence and about 8 months in they realized she never did any of her first day orientation, received any company documentation on rules/guidelines/etc and never went through any of the required training. Just walked in on day one and started working.

Apparently it wasn't the first or last time they did that, at a company with heavy federal scrutiny.

If the job falls through, now might be the best time to leave this shit bag state.

I 100% agree. If it weren't for the job we were most likely leaving this state. Funny thing is I never truly expected to get it anyway being the least experienced applicant so I was already looking for new landing spots.

Now the plan is to create a backdoor out of here so to speak just incase things get worse so we have an easier exit.

I’ve been following your updates. At this point I wouldn’t be too shy about contacting your potential boss to help get resolution. Good luck and keep us posted!

Update*

I contacted my boss today and was informed that I passed all the pre-employment requirements and will be receiving a phone call Monday.

Pretty sure whoever i was previously dealing with is either to busy to continue to deal with me or didn't care. Either way things look good on my end.

Sounds like this new company is a mess. Not a great start.
