Thanks again for all the input guys.
That standard USB port on the device looks pretty jacked up.
I might be interested in buying it from youUpdate: I tried connecting to my laptop via the the mini USB. The Laptop indicates the device has malfunctioned and is not recognized. The screen does change slightly, but definitely doesn't look healthy. Guess I'll be chucking it into the electronics recycle bin and getting a new one. Given the feedback I got on here, that's not a bad thing.

I agree with this. My understanding is that in cases like this, the current tune will be saved as the "stock tune" on the new device you use, and from there the dyno tuner can save a new custom file on your device.Don't over think this. Don't worry about not being able to return to stock, stock tune stuck in the old device, having a dealer reflash the car, sct potentially assisting you with a recovery, ect. Not needed.
Take the car to your custom tuner of choice. Buy a new a hand held from them and have them tune the car. Simple

As for which device to get, there aren't too many choices with SCT or any stock PCM reflash device. The x4 is the current model, and when new models come out, the older versions don't get restocked.
Yes, so purchase a Xcal4. There are a lot of tuners online that will sell you the tuner, and give you a basic off the shelf tune for no charge.I agree with this.
