So if we are just talking Truck repairs, swapping out long blocks.

The $7k for a 7.3, still isn't a smoking deal or anything.

GM 6.0 Truck engine is $5,700 brand new with intake, water pump, pulleys, throttle body, Coils +plugs, manifolds, etc. (dressed minus accessories) part : 12677741

Stripped Long Block is $4,200. Part : 19370163
It's $8k for a dressed long block, not a compete engine with accessories.

And what? I literally already said a 6.0 is $5,700.

My point remains, the 7.3 did break any records for crate engine pricing. Whether it's $2,400 or $3,000 or $1,500 more expensive, it's still more and Inline with the going rate.

What did a 6.2 cost?

LS3 430 HP

The price point on the 7.3 is in the correct price point. Big block at a reasonable price.

You argument was that the 6.0 and 5.7 were under $3,000 which is far from the truth.

The 6.4 cost more than the 7.3.

There are several conversations going on, so I can understand how you are confused.

1. Ford's 7.3 is being marketed and sold as a F250 engine to rival GM's 6.0 and Ram's 6.4 Truck engines.

You've linked both performance car engines just now. (That 6.4 even states not for use in Truck Applications).

2. I never claimed a new Hemi or LS was under $3k. I even listed the part numbers and prices for reference. Yes, I did state a 6.0 is "$3,000" cheaper, and you are right. That's wrong, it's $2,400. Thanks Snopes.

3. I did say a USED 5.7 Hemi can now be grabbed at a Pick-N-Pull for under $1,000.

The significants of that is that is the price point that gave us 5.3 Swap Mania where everything from Miatas and Civics to Riding Lawnmowers, Mustangs and Jeeps have gotten the Chevy treatment.

So despite having great factory heads, cam-in-block, compact, cheap, +300hp and using a classic bell housing, the Gen 3 Hemis have not really taken off as a popular swap engine.

Coyote on the other hand had now been found in at just about every example, RX7s, Toyota GT86, Foxes and New Edges, Rangers, AC Cobras, etc.

4. 6.2 had a lot of hype and sounded great on paper. A few guys swapped them into Mustang and then nothing....

GM had that 8.1 Vortec but that went nowhere as everyone preferred the 6.0

So that's my only thing...

I have nothing against the 7.3. I hope it explodes and we see millions of swaps till they make us want to vomit. Lets see some 4th Gen Camaro with turbo 7.3s.

Maybe Ford will kill the Coyote and give us an aluminum block destroked 7.3 in the next Mustang and F150. (God Please).

Maybe you'll buy me one for Xmas and I'll document the swap into "Satan's" Cobra for everyone's enjoyment, watching me suffer through the inevitable 4 year swap.

Another good Ford video. They need to do similar with their regular consumer performance Mustangs.

I like the white and gold CobraJet, but red, white and blue is my favorite.

I like how @Corbic started his response to @me32 with "There are several conversations going on, so I can understand how you are confused." Why is it that everyone else is confused when debating @Corbic, but he believes he is always on point and factual.

Well go back and look.

We have one guy talking about servicing used trucks with crate swaps and remains.

We have other people talking about performance project swaps.

Me32 is claiming I said a new 6.0 or Hemi was under $3k, feel free to find that, because that never happened.

Not really sure why people are spun up about my comments.

The reason why the Vortec 8100 went nowhere because it was heavy as balls and limited support. Iron block, iron heads, and parts weren't cross compatible with the 4.8/5.7/6.0/6.2/7.0 LS engines. Wasn't in the same engine architecture family, so you can't say people preferred the 6.0 over the 8.1 because the 8.1 wasn't really an option between the engines in that group.

Lol.

It's even worse than that. The 8.1 couldn't mix and match parts with earlier BBCs. Still see a lot of them in used boats, and a handful in RVs.

That right there was the issue. The 8.1 was the next/final evolution of the BBC, problem was very few parts interchanged form that nomenclature and 0 parts interchanged from the LS line.
