Yea it’ll be interesting to see how the reviews keep coming in and if the next gen raptor has any tricks up it’s sleeve
I think that Ford is supposed to be doing a limited number of Raptors with the 5.2 GT500 supercharged engine.
Not sure if true or not though. That would be pretty glorious.

Hopefully some suspension tuning as well. The C&D review noted that the ride was more controlled and better overall than the Raptor.

I still 100% expect Ford to puss-out and give us another warned over version of its existing ecogarbage.
Yup, and trans programing.

Rear bucks a lot because Ford used lifting blocks.
10spd has a horrific tune.

Only trick it needs is. 5.2 with bower :)

A 7,500+ rpm engine doesn’t belong in this type of truck, which is what they’ll need for the 5.2 to compete, and I don’t see them spending the $ required reworking such a low volume engine. They don’t have near the scale FCA has with the Hellcat mil. Besides, Ford clearly understands that FCA has an 800HP capable engine ready to go if needed.

IMO, Ford backs down from this arms race, and competes with the raptor in other ways. Suspension/chassis upgrades are much cheaper. You’d have to be smoking crack if you think the raptor mule videos floating around are somehow hiding a GT500 power plant. It’s clearly a 6’er.

TRX looks so smooth and composed on those jumps. It’s butter. I guess Billy does know a thing or 2 about suspension.

Dat sound tho!

I don't think Ford will go after the hp title with the new Raptor. G2 was 25% faster on their loop than G1 but I'm assuming the TRX will destroy that time when they compare it. Braking, wheel travel, and other off road suspension specs are what they will focus on. A 600-650hp Raptor(hopefully a V8) that reacts off road more like a race/trophy truck. Both the Raptor/TRX can go fast off road, with the TRX killing the power spec, now the engineers will focus more specifics on the ride off road and going bigger landing softer.

As you say, I don't believe Ford can win a hp war with Ram right now. Is Gene Martindale still with Ford?

You guys are all high if you think Ford allows the TRX to dominate this segment. The F Series is Fords life line. It’s bread and butter. Priority 1,2 and 3. I’m confident Ford will come out with a lot more power ( even if it’s limited numbers) Ford thrives on best in class. Look at the F150 and SD. They don’t back down from numbers. I don’t see them lying down. There is too much money to be made here. They know this from previous years of success. And obviously the 5.2 won’t be the same exact one as in the Gt500 but it will be a truck iteration with over 700 Hp. No way Ford backs down. Hell no.

if its a limited run though, do you think that will go over well with their fan base when they know they can jump ship to FCA to get the power they want with so far what looks like very capable off road manors too with out likely paying a limited type price point?

That's okay because the TRX is highly priced as well.

Give it a week, FCA discounts everything to normal consumer prices. That’s why every hoodrat has a Charger and Rams fill up the trailer parks. You can get them cheap

People that buy these kind of trucks , for the most part aren’t too concerned about money. We’ll see about the discounts but I don’t think we’ll anything in the first 1-2 years. This truck is super hot and only has 1 main competitor.

I never said that. I said I don’t think Ford will get into a hp war 800/900 is not what it means on the street. Instead I think Ford will concentrate on suspension and more travel to go faster over the bumps off road.

You think the next gen raptor won’t increase price as well? Then on top of that a limited run price point with crazy ADM
I like how in the TFL video, the raptor had an ADM on it STILL lol.

No way I’m sword fighting over a limited edition raptor run.

we already know a fully loaded Limited 2021 F150 will be 79K. So it’s safe to assume the new Raptor will easily get into 80K territory and that’s without the ADM. but you know what? They will sell the hell out of it. Just like they do now.

Never said they would allow the TRX to dominate, just that they won’t go for the HP title. I believe 500hp is all we can hope for from Ford on the next raptor. They are all in on the Eco line. Let’s not forget, it’s not just dropping in a new engine. The rest of the drivetrains needs to be addressed at well. That’s one of the most overlooked aspects of FCA’s application of the Hellcat/ZF combo. It’s an extremely flexible offering with lots of scale.

Like I said, everyone knows that FCA has a 800hp capable engine ready to go if needed. Competitors will need to be prepared to go to at least that. If someone tries to counter them with a 725-750 offering, Ram will fire back with a 800hp mic drop.
