I'm not mad at him either, he's actually been quite helpful and understanding. But I did correct him on the spacer thing.
I'm glad I could help, I honestly don't know how it can be installed. Just sucks as I'm ready to get back on the road. This time if year for me is driving time, my car sits during summer

I am no expert myself but I don't see that piece moving 3/4 of an inch from heat.
I reached out to a buddy that used to build off road stuff and still welds pretty regularly. He said its possible for things to move depending where it's welded. I guess that could fall under a bad jig or maybe not having in the jig properly.

I took some measurements on mine and came up with this,

Passenger side: 8 1/2
Drivers side: 8 3/4-ish.

I had mine squared up on my table with the rear edge of each spring seat the same distance from the edge of the table, using the outer holes. The screwdriver was close to the size of the bolt, probably a 9mm. Obviously there’s some margin of error because the measurement method isn’t perfect...but it wouldn’t be that far off.

Apparently BMR is checking the jig, thats what I was told today.
So unless my stock one is off, which i have pulled and installed 3 times so far, the measurements are off for others too.
I hope they figure it out

I dont know why the hell I didn't think of this earlier but I have my MM K sitting on the ground next to my car waiting to go in. Do you or anyone else want me to measure it using the same two points for comparison?

I am asking instead of just doing it because I don't want to add fuel to the fire.

100%. Because I have the MM stuff added to the cart already if BMR drops the ball. Plus I'm just curious if I'm off here. I'm hoping I'm right so I don't look like a fool, but I can't see how I would be

@94slowbra1

So I measured my MM K 2 ways. One similar to the way you guys have and another using the square lined up against the frame rail mount plate. Both ways came up with about 9 1/4 inches with no real variation side to side.

You can see in the second set passenger side (K member is upside-down) the square wouldn't sit flush with the plate. There is a small bit of weld overlap that is holding it off the plate but the measurements are extremely similar. These were all center ish of the forward hole to the back of the elongated lower rearward mount.

If anyone needs other measurements for reference don't hesitate to ask and make sure to tag me so I don't miss it. Hope this helps.

Well thanks you my friend are in the clear, just like I would expect you would be.
Also proves I'm not crazy and my shit isn't built right.
Thanks for the measurements!

No problem.

If you end up going with the MM K and have the ability to wait they usually come up once during the deal of the day sale they do every year around this time. Might be worth it to wait.

Awesome thanks for the info. So yeah it looks like at least me and slowbra’s Ks are off, but I have a feeling more are as well. I feel bad for BMR because these showed such promise, but this doesn’t turn me off of their K, I just want them to figure it out and get us new ones.

Just curious but the issues are with the premium K members, correct? I’m just wondering if these are affecting the Regular and/or Premium versions. I’m under the assumption the jigs differ.

Hey guys. I did a test fit with the k-member. It is too late today to final fit. However, it does fit. There is NO wiggle room. The rear slots are all the way forward against the bolts. The main big bolts did mount as well. It looks like the engine is going to sit a lot higher. As it sits right now, I don't see a way that it can be correctly squared.

Wow that really sucks to hear. I can tell those rear bolts are pushed all the way back against their holes.

With this issue and the fact that the engine is sitting higher is starting to make me think BMR might have rushed this into production to soon. How do you make a K member for a road race application that raises the engine? Seriously, it is literally the single heaviest component on the car and raising it will impact handling. It will also have an affect on your drive shaft angles as well. If you keep this K member I would check them.

I seriously hope BMR fixes this situation and you guys all get taken care of. In my eyes this is 100% unacceptable.

The funny/ironic part is they started this back in 2016 I think. There's a thread somewhere on it. At least there was. I don't know if it's still around.

I remember that thread but couldn't remember when it was started. So 4 years of R&D and it's still not right is concerning to say the least.

Hopefully they also stop shipping them until the issues are worked out.

Spoke to BMR again today. They have stopped production on them and have revised the jig. Arrapently they have found that the rear plates are about an inch too short, exactly what I was seeing too. I have also informed them about the height and header clearance on the pass side.
Mine us heading back to them tomorrow, hopefully. Hurricane ZETA put a pretty big hurting on new orleans last night and we are out of power everywhere.
They said the plan is to have the jig redone and have longer plates built. Obviously I won' know this until I get a new one back in my hands.
I'll update things as I know them
