Take the test?

I wouldn't take it.

IBM, Pfizer design AI model that can predict Alzheimer's in seemingly healthy patients
Oct. 22, 2020 3:24 PM ET|About: International Business Mach... (IBM)|By: Brandy Betz, SA News Editor

IBM (IBM +0.4%) and Pfizer (PFE +1.0%) have published research in The Lancet eClinicalMedicine outlining the duo's AI-backed approach to diagnosing Alzheimer's years before symptoms occur.

The researches developed an AI model that uses samples of language data (obtained from clinical cognitive verbal tests) to predict with 71% accuracy the eventual onset of the disease within seemingly healthy people who don't have any Alzheimer's risk factors.

IBM says the "work is part of a larger platform IBM Research is building to better understand neurological health and chronic illnesses through biomarkers and signals in speech and language."

Not sure probably not. I’d rather not know and sweat it. My grandpa died from this. It’s a terrible disease and would love for there to be a cure.

I would probably want to know so I can plan my future around it. My grandmother had it and it hit quick. We first noticed an issue when by dumb luck my uncle was driving around town and happened to see my grandmother driving around as well. My uncle decided to follow her and low and behold she was driving around in circles cause she didn't know where she was. That is some scary shit. So, i would want to know so my future family can prepare for those moments.

If there were some type of preventative treatment to go along with it yes. If not then no reason to introduce that stress into your life.
This. Look at the way Covid has mentally affected people.

Being told "hey you're going to get this bad disease one day that there is no cure for and will end up killing you, but we don't know when it will happen" is the equivalent of being told "hey you're going to get ran over by a bus and die one day while crossing the street, but we're not sure when."

Every time they cross a street it's going to run through their mind and stress them out. It would be the same anytime they had one of those "I was just going to tell you something, but I can't remember" or "where did I put my phone, I just had it" moments which everyone of all ages and health have from time to time.

I imagine for many people, the continuous stress of "is today the day it's starting" would cause more adverse health conditions over time than the number of potential positives knowing would bring (aside from if they had a cure to prevent it from happening).

I’m around people with it daily...I’m hoping as much as i cuss and as bad as my temper can be, i will reverse course and make a pleasant dementia patient. *fingers crossed*

If it hits me, i hope it happens fast enough that i have no idea what happened.

If it was more accurate, **** yeah. Stop dumping money into my 401K. Cash out and go out big.

But sketchy, I think it was the movie "The Net" where they altered his medical records to say he was terminal and he killed himself. I like the concept but at 70% it's still too innaccurate to make decisions based off of. Like mentioned above 0% isn't the baseline 50% is so it's really only 20 points better than a coinflip.

No thank you. I already have enough crap to worry about. They have everyone scared from this Covid mess I can only imagine if they started putting these tests out what people would do.
