Are the hood vents blocked off?

Something I never noticed on my 2 older Terminators was the vents looking like this:

It looks like they’re blocked off. Here is the underside:

I don’t recall seeing this on my other ones. They looked free and clear while this looks blocked. Is this how it’s supposed to be?

My good liner was removed on my car and I’ve literally never looked under the hood of another.

Regardless, no, you don’t want it like that.

Almost looks like there is a slit started that you could cut along.

Yes, I had to cut some of the liner off to get free clearance for the vents when I reinstalled it.

Looks like the liner was replaced but the opening was cut out. Did you buy your Mystichrome Cobra from another owner?

Yes, I'm the 3rd owner and I have 2 liners, the original one and a newer one (the original one is very, very weathered).

That’s how the hood liner comes and the vents come with plastic covers on the inside that someone already removed.

Thanks. You're right. I did some Google searching and saw pics of them with the covers on. I see the covers in a box of parts I got with the car. At first, I didn't know what they were but now I do.

I just installed the track spec air vents. what a difference. They look sick. They make the car look modern, and its quality shit. I recommened it. and cut the hood blanket.

I thought maybe the previous owner installed a generic under hood cover. Ah, so he removed the vents. Well, it's nice that @HPLouis found them.

Just installed these myself and agree on all your points. Very happy with the purchase.

the underneath covers are part of the vents, so if you have them the po must have cut them off at the two attachment points. it is almost like a flap attached at two places in the rear and have two tabs to lock into the vents at the front

You’re right. I can’t reattach them. I guess I’ll be on the lookout for a set of vents now. Thanks

Is the Mystichome painted under the blanket? The Comp Oranges were not so I had it painted when I removed the blanket and replaced with plastic ones with metal ones.

Are you sure that is how the hood liner comes? I've had 3 Cobras and every one of them came with the factory hood liner and none of them looked like that...

Yeah, that’s how they come. This is my third Cobra too (one 2,000 miles from the original owner, a 14,000 mile one and this, 9,000 mile one) and all the liners looked the same. The only difference this time was the vent cover was removed on this one. I even bought Ford liners for all 3 of them the the new liners looked like this too.

Mine had the original plastic vents with the flaps when I bought it. Seemed to me the flaps made the vents pretty useless so I removed them. However, this was the hood blanket my car came with. It has since been removed for obvious reasons, but I was always curious where it came from since it had nice pockets for the vents to breathe.

Nowadays there’s no blanket and Tracspec vents. Hood is painted on the underside.

I still have the blanket under the hood on my car. There are no negative side effect from removing it? I think i've read over time it could damage paint on the hood with it being removed, or is this a myth?
