I was putting my stifflers brace on and stripped the threads. I cleaned them up with a tap and they would get tight but wouldn't snug down when I put some torque to them.

My question is can I now get a longer bolt and put a nut on it?

Here's the bolts I'm talking about.

Two options... 1. Drill tap and helicoil the trans. 2. Use longer bolts and use a nut

Sweet I'm leaning towards the longer bolt and nut route. Don't really wanna helicoil it. I just didn't know if that method was frowned upon, I can't find much info on the net about people using a longer bolt and nut and it seems like a nice fix.

I would use a locking nut just to be safe.

And how strong are you to strip those threads?

Cleaned aluminum with a tap, should have used a thread chaser. Probably recut the threads super thin. Not really supposed to use a tap for that.

Yeah I can impact gun them. The second I try to apply any torque they come loose. I'm gonna get a longer bolt and but like 2004Cobra615. Seems like this should be fine.

I'll try and put the bolt in from the top so it'll be easier to line up the stiffler brace and driveshaft loop from now on too.
