Not quite a long enough stretch for a tree, I do have a 5 mph speed limit sign on it though lol.
Have you "striped" it yet?

That's not a bad price. I wonder if I could get that kind of deal around here?

Probably so. I will say that I could have had it done cheaper but paving is one of things that you truly get what you pay for. I know the guys who did mine, they have a long waiting list and have a great reputation in my area.

Here's the deal. We bought 35 acres of heavily wooded land here in western Washington. We are planning on building a BarnPros structure
Coach House - Rv Garage Kit - Barn Pros

We chose this structure because I'll be able to park our 5th wheel inside, have a big shop and have plenty of living space for the wife and I.

We'll be adding shed roofs to both sides and enclosing them. The big question is: What cool things have you seen or done to a home that you would include? I'm asking about everything from automation and security to furniture and appliances. Trim, cabinets, counters etc. Since it has 25 stairs to get upstairs, we'll be installing a dumbwaiter.

Hopefully we can start construction in late May/early June if our illustrious county will let us build.

Thanks for any ideas, sources and links that might help.
If I had that, I'd build in two things: An observatory dome and a 5-floor free pendulum. The observbatory, because the telescope's got to go somewhere; and the pendulum because there is nothing more cool than watching the slow swing of a large pendulum. You put a circle of stones at the base. As the planet spins, the pendulum knocks over the stones, one by one, throughout the day.

I need to look into this.

Here's a link to Houston Museum of Natural Science's set up. It's called a Foucault Pendulum. Dude, it is amazing to watch these, and realize the pendulum is staying in the same plane; that it is the planet, rotating underneath us, literally moving the circle of stones. It is freaking amazing. But ... it will take up some space ...

I've got the room to do that. I'm thinking an outdoor unit, but wonder how the weather, wind, rain will affect it.

They would ruin the accuracy. And you would probably want a way to tie it off in high winds. Probably want to make it a simple, non-driven, design, where you push it by hand to get it going. But it would still be darn cool!

I created a thread like this a few years ago, but I can't find it. Oh well.

Time for an update and looking for some trim ideas. Here's the exterior.

House Sep 2020.jpg

We still have a ways to go. There have been SO many delays. But I am putting up pine t&g on the ceiling now and my tile guy has started on the master bath.

Which brings me to a question. I have the t&g meeting the sheetrock wall at 9 feet. I need to run some kind of trim across it. Any ideas? Here's a picture for an idea of what it looks like.

Alarm system (even a simple system is better than none)
Watch where the outside water bibs are located (garden watering, washing the car, etc.)
A hot and cold bib inside the garage.
Windows and insulation. Research both, look at reviews.
If you have a basement, consider a walkout. Watch the stairway going downstairs so you have access to get larger items up and down.

Hope these help.

Pretty much any style trim you like since there are a lot of choices. Are you looking to match or somewhat match other trim?

By the way, AWESOME house!

Lambeau, shutters make that house pop. Nice.

Cobrabob, the trim needs to go from the t&g to the painted wall. My problem is the roof is a 9:12 pitch in the front and a 5:12 on the back. I need to get something that will fit those angles.

Signatures are for pus... oh, wait...

That's a cool window, turkey. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work on our build.

Lambeau, it actually is a barn with a nice cupola up top. I call it my sniper tower. The house is from a company called Barn Pros. Local to us, but they build nation wide. Owners live in our town. The wife has always wanted what she calls a barndominium. The big garage doors are 14' so I can store the 5th wheel inside. Ceiling is over 15' high. Definitely getting a lift for my shop.
