Hey guys and gals, can those of you with tuners or code readers and 2013-14 GT500's please check your codes and see if this code shows up? According to Ford this is a normal code and should be ignored. Since NIXDSG is the only poster that I have read about that has this code, how normal can it be? It does not seem to set off the wrench light or any other warning light. I checked mine and I have no codes present.

Thanks guys. The more information I have the better I'll be when/if I get to someone that can help.

This is from the 2014 Mustang Service Manual.

U0401:81 Invalid Data Received from the ECM /PCM A: Invalid Serial Data Received
This DTC is set when the IPC receives invalid network data for 5 seconds or more from the PCM for the engine oil temperature and the inlet air temperature data. RETRIEVE and REPAIR all non-network DTCs in the PCM and other modules on the network. REFER to Section 419-10.

Section 419-10 doesn't mention the engine oil temperature and the inlet air temperature data and I haven't been able to locate any other mention of code U0401:81 in the manual. That doesn't mean that it is not there, it just means I haven't stubbled across it yet. The manual has no search capability.

I've had my battery die on me (replaced with a new factory one) so I will check my scanner when I get home a little later to see.

That's not a 'normal code' (what's a normal trouble code, anyway?), as stated above its a communication code.

It is actually an Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) DTC.

DTC - Diagnostic Trouble Code

Really old thread, I apologize for the resurrection.

I actually have this code on my 2014 and can’t seem to make it go away. Has anyone figured out how to eliminate this code?
