...the 2020 is heads and shoulders a better car in every way, there is no denying that.
Several of us respectfully disagree. What makes one car "better" than another is the criteria against which potential buyers measure/compare them. For you, "the 2020 is heads and shoulders a better car," based on what you consider to be important. For others of us, who consider other things (e.g., cost, styling, absence of a third pedal, shift knob, lack of a vert option, lack of a glass roof option, weight, etc) important, the 2020 is definitely NOT "heads and shoulders a better car in every way."

I believe there is a 2020 GT500 forum where the nut swingers can go suck off the latest and "greatest."

This forum I believe is for the Trinity 13/14 Shelby GT500.

ANYWHOOO...

Reasons I did not go for the 2020...

1. Its a ****ing whale. damn thing weighs somewhere between 4080 and 4250 lbs depending on what source you site.

2. Flappy Paddles and a Knob... no thanks. It works in my Wife's 2020 Explorer ST... not in my Shelby.

3. MASSIVELY OVER PRICED. the ADMs and RIDICULOUS market for the 2020, which is not a SVT OR a True Shelby.. is ABSURD.

4. Carroll Shelby didnt have ANY input on this vehicle... The obvious reason for that being hes Dead... His name on the back pays homage, but doesnt add to his legacy in my opinion.

5. It looks like it was designed by Brian O'Conner.. WTF is with the WING?? **** dude.... FnF called they want their body kit back.

6. Its not a 200+MPH car.

So in conclusion, yes. The 13/14 "Trinity" Shelby GT500 is a far superior car.... But that's just MY OPINION.

The 2013 2014 Shelby’s are Very special cars in many ways that have been already posted! I would rather have a manual and the convertible option. I may get some crap for this but I still think the 13 14 model years are better looking not to say I will not buy a 2020 2021 and love it I’m not a huge fan. Never selling my 2013 Vert......

I own both

The 2020 is far superior in every way performance wise. So yes it's 100% better in that area. The DC is very special and impresses me every time I drive it. Also when I drive the '13 it also strikes me on a difference note and I'm impressed on that level.

the 2013/14 is unique and a very special car. That is why I still have it. I do agree on the looks, I like it more than the 2020. The 2020 has its appeal and I like it's looks (because meaner)

If you want me to choose I would still pick the '13 on the collector aspect, as I know all the facts and with the 5.8 it is unique. the 2020 is by far the superior vehicle and worth the cost. Each car has it's special features and its hard to choose, so I will keep both in my collection.

Im very interested in getting to the track and meeting up with a 2020 to give it a good comparison. Im very skeptical of its performance numbers.

damn thing weighs too much... its a high revving auto.. idk... Im very interested to see how that turns out in person.

Ford lost me in 2015, MY's since based on that platform did nothing to win me back.
I'm sure the 2020 is a world beater, it just doesn't do it for me.
.
As one 2020 owner posted on this site:
" The paddles are kind of silly really. Put in in Track Mode or Sport Mode, whatever, and go. No need to deviate from the factory programming in pretty much every situation as Ford/Tremec nailed it. "

I stopped at '15 as well. I would and I will, buy another Terminator before a 2020.
Although the 2020, may be superior (debatable), my finances are not.

You can get a lot of hookers for that kind of money

I like your roof. Did you install that yourself :D

Agree. Its all about preference. Oh, don't forget, 1st to hit 200mph off the showroom floor. So it will always have its special place in history books.

Just as the 2020 will also.

So someone posted earlier... the 2013 is the last car that Carroll Shelby had any involvement with, correct? That may make a difference historically speaking.

Yes that's correct. He died right before the car was available for purchase I believe.
Carroll Shelby Died May 10th 2012

First unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2011, the Ford Shelby GT500 was the most powerful Mustang at the time. and was available from May 2012.

Wiki sourced... so take that for what its worth.

In his own words...

THAT is the video I watch from time to time. Love it! Carroll did so many things in his lifetime. I am grateful to own something he touched, even if it was only Carroll giving a nod to SVT for the excellent job they did on the car. Whether Carroll had that much involvement in the development in the car or not, he had some level of involvement. The S550 did not have any of Carroll Shelby input. So owning this car actually means much to me. Carroll Shelby, along with Don Garlits, Jackie Stewart and A.J. Foyt, were my heroes growing up in the 60s and early 70s. I will add that visiting Shelby American in Las Vegas in 2019 was enjoyable for many reasons. Enjoyable in that there was so much history to view, the displays were great, getting to see the shop in action. Man the place oozed tradition and history. And let us not forget the gift shop! After awhile, my wife had to cut me off from stacking too many merchandise items at the register for check-out.
