Just test drive the cars on your list and go with what you like

^this, I'd just go drive what you can and really decide for yourself. You can only learn so much from reading on the internet.

If I had to thumb thru your list this is how I see it (because I've been in the same position as you)

Chevy SS: Great on paper, could never get over the looks. Probably the closest spiritual successor to the E39 M5 since GM stole the E39 platform engineers away from BMW. Stick cars still bring a premium in pricing

Gen 2 V: Probably the smartest choice for a relatively modern manual sedan that will be reliable, I'm sure finding a stick will be fun but they are out there.

G8 GXP: the only option to get a manual, hard to find and when they do come up, people want the world for them. I like how the G8 looks vs the SS but if this is the platform you want, find an SS

Gen 1 V: Interior is so dated and cramped (I'm 6ft 5), its a lot of performance for the money but if you've got the budget for a gen 2 V I wouldn't even bother with these

E39 M5: People do daily drive these (hell its the only car I have at home right now while my daily 330i is up on the lift), not the most economical daily and if you are using it as a sedan often especially with adults the e39 is a smaller sedan. At the same time though, this car is the benchmark that all sports sedans are compared to, so that must say something.

Audi RS4: I looked into these as they sound great on paper (as well as the S4) but I'd never touch an audi. Step one for maintenance: Remove entire front end

E90 M3: I have driven one of these, the handling is going to be sharper than the E39 and the 4.0L V8 in this will rev out to 8300rpm, with an exhaust they sound incredible. For around town driving they make no torque down low (295tq at peak), this a car you rev out to keep in the power band. The 5.0L V8 in the M5 makes 80% of its torque (368tq at peak) around 2500rpm. The E90 M3's from what I read are generally more reliable for M cars but you do have to deal with the rod bearings (people replace them every 50k to be safe, aftermarket bearings with better tolerances exist, not sure how long people run these for) and throttle actuators (usually fixed after installing a reman actuator set)

I was really looking into early E90 M3's but ended up buying my Mustang as a daily instead. The Mustang was great to daily when I had a shorter commute but when I moved and my commute doubled, the 16 gal gas tank was too small to realistically do it.

If you have any questions on the BMW's feel free to reach out.

I’d take a stick shift Aston Martin over an auto Aston.

I’d take a manual r35 gtr if it existed over an auto.

it’s not about winning races or so on, I just much prefer driving a 3 pedal car in canyons, and twisty’s. I heel toe downshift 3-4 times for the fun of it if I’m going 45 and the light turns yellow when I’m not in a rush.

in the cobra I’ll clutch kick, drift, power shift and hold a 500ft burnout getting on a 90° freeway on-ramp from a left or right turn ramp.

I can do similar enough and fun enough things in an auto but it’s like having sex with a condom and the chicks mom in the room...
Mercedes Benz has traditionally had horrible manual transmissions. Their core philosophy since the dawn of time has been to build some of the best automatics in the world.

If you want a three pedal experience, Mercedes is just not the brand for you.

I love the 7 speed in my C63s. It has a clutch pack in front of it instead of a converter and paddles on the steering wheel - it's every bit as quick as any dual clutch trans I've ever driven. Doesn't have 3 pedals but it's 95% as fun as a 3 pedal car, in my opinion

Meh, they days of me buying manuals are over. I like shifting, but not as a daily and definitely not if you ever go over stock power.

The tr6060 in my Shelby was stout... but still needed help going 1-2 and now needs to be completely rebuilt as I beat on it. And about 15k miles as a daily.

Auto Hellcat and have fun.

CTS-V from your choices. But honestly, I sit in traffic too much to daily a manual. Been there, done that. I work a lot and commute. I wanna chill out in my DD. I'd have my butt in something like this LS460.
And yes, it's a RWD V8.

Would be awesome with an LS/t56 swap

it has a 2jz in it ( yes yes I know not the TT) that’ll hold just as much power when built right.

I miss my beater ass is300 all the time. I would love another one that wasn’t beat to shit

Downside is the transmission is weak and the engine is a late model 2JZ with glass rods.

I'd rather have an LS over a 2j any day of the week

Thinking the same... but having a complete set of tools for all the "quirks" it may spit up...

This one is a beautiful example, but over-priced for 81,000 miles; Unless the values for these are starting to change direction.
I LOVE the color, Imola-Yellow.

2008 Audi RS4
Faster and newer and cheaper. But not the aura of the Imola Yellow B7 RS4
