waiting for stamps sucks <twiddles thumbs>

I guess it gives me time to get a couple threaded barrels though

Guys had any luck with AR-12's? Been reading several reviews and seems alot of them are having issues. Seem pretty inexpensive for the most part.

Clue me in as I have no experience with this: what are you talking about stamps, and how does one go about registering a suppressor? A suppressor would go well on my AR.

You purchase a suppressor from the authorized retailer.

You apply to the ATF for permission for the seller to transfer the suppressor to you.

You pay the ATF $200.

The retailer holds the suppressor.

You wait 10-12 months.

When/if the ATF approves the Transfer, you receive a tax stamp as proof.

You pick up your suppressor from the retailer.

Silencer shop does it simplify the process a LOT, they tack on a few bucks to the stamp for processing. You can download their app and make an account to answer background questions, take/upload a photo etc. If you go to a retailer with a kiosk they even do your finger print scans.

You may also want to consider a trust, if you look at their website they offer trusts you can setup/buy at the same time. I went through a FL attorney that included unlimited phone support and a privacy package (items in the trust are on individual assignment pages, obviously the fed knows what you have but in a law suit etc... they would not know the contents of the trust).

You sure you wanna go down this rabbit hole? NFA items are a different breed of gun ownership. You can’t own just one. Can’t be sold easily and basically a lifetime commitment. I’m not saying don’t. But it can get expensive, time consuming and totally rewarding. My AR is a two stamp gun. Suppressor and a registered SBR. $400 bucks and probably a combined wait time of 15 months.

I'm working on 20+ years of government sponsored hurry up and wait. I'm patient.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go see about getting one.

The extra shitty part right now is that since it has to be in stock to get a serial number to start the process you either have to keep waiting until it's in stock or be a little flexible. I wanted to get the ball rolling so I took my second choice on some things.

Welp, finally bought one of those Canik TP9 SF pistols. Unreal what kind of a gun you get for a price! The trigger is amazing!

Good to hear, I came across the TP9SFX I believe it was at the local gun store the other day, it was 499 but I think it was optics ready, 20+1, ported slide, extended mag release, fiber optic sights, etc. It looked pretty sweet

my 15-22 was an early one so no threaded barrel - just came across this little guy -

Non-Threaded-Barrel-Adapter-1228_1-510x510.jpg

for $30 I'll give it a shot, apparently getting the barrel out of it's a pain in the ass and subject to break things. Im also not putting a $300+ aftermarket barrel on a gun I paid $400 for. The whole gun thing is such a sickness, I was seriously looking at the performance shop version with better barrel, trigger, grips, etc... but not for $700 on a plinker

Or you can just screw an oil filter on to your barrel. Or so I have heard.

I wouldn’t hesitate for one second to drop that money on that gun. They’re amazing.
