It’s hard to believe, but SVTPerformance.com will soon start its 20th year in operation. The big day will come in November 2020 , and I’d like to do something a little special for the occasion. We’ve been keeping up on the server maintenance and minor software updated, but the time has come to really dig in and go for some major mods.
First, we are planning on updating SVTP’s forum software to the latest and greatest version from the developer. With that will come a Crown Vic trunk load of new features and an improved layout for viewing the site on mobile devices. We will also building a new front page that will reflect our commitment to covering all things Ford Powered for years to come. The end result will be a much faster and immersive SVTP experience.
To back all that software up we are also planning on performing quite a few upgrades to our hosting service. Though the final specs have not yet been determined, we intend to insure that SVTP members can freely access the tech and content they’ve come to expect. Our goal is zero-down-time and complete independence from 3rd party control of our community. SVTP is one of the last independently owned large scale Ford Performance Vehicle communities and we intend to keep it that way.
Unfortunately, all of this comes at significant expense and the effects of Covid-19 have taken a substantial bite out of the advertising revenue that SVTP relies on to continue operating. That’s where you guys come in. We’re asking for your help to complete these upgrades. You can support SVTP in several ways. First, you can make direct donations through Paypal to [email protected]. Second, you could sign up as an SVTP Premium Member (which has several additional benefits) or one of our adult beverage themed monthly support tiers by CLICKING HERE. Finally, we have some SVTP Swag you can purchase – details are in THIS THREAD.
With all the changes we have planned SVTP and the new Front Page Site we plan to build will look much more modern and be several times faster. On top of that it will be more easily accessible, no matter the device you are on, and far more user friendly. We’re looking at page load times that are 3-4X faster than we have now, plus the ability more easily post large attachments like photos. The Market Section will get a major overhaul, and we’ll be reintroducing a Store Front to make it easier to pick up SVTP Swag. Our goal is to raise $7,500, and we’ve managed to bring in almost $1,500 so far. For that we will be able to purchase and install all the new hardware we need, cover all software upgrades including custom work, and ensure that we have lightning fast hosting free of 3rd party interference for at least a year.
However, we don’t plan to stop there. You guys have given so much to SVTP over the years that we want to start giving more back to you guys. We plan on starting monthly giveaways of some really awesome stuff (we already have books, tuners, go-fast parts, etc) where SVTP Supporters will have far better chances to win than anyone else. We also plan to start hosting parties/get-togethers at events all over the country once events actually start taking place again. Anyone remember the parties we used to host at The House of Blues? SVTP has been a major part of the Ford Performance Enthusiast Community for nearly 20 years, and with the support and contributions of great members like you guys you can guarantee we will be here for 20 more.
