Longevity

In your guys opinions, what kind of longevity could one expect out of these motors with bigger superchargers? I recently purchased a 03 10th with a KB 2.8lc tuned for e85. Car makes 730rwhp and 670rwtq. Pulls super hard and runs about 25psi. This is a lot of power and boost. I know these cars are for fun but I do want the motor to last awhile. I am very religious about maintaining stuff. Keep in mind I do not beat on this car non stop. Goes out for cruises once every week or every other week and gets floored maybe once a drive thru a gear or two. It has the head cooling mod and supporting mods for the power. It was compression and leak down tested and everything was great. Should I tune down a little or just keep it how she is and treat her right? Just want something to last me a good amount of time. Thanks for any opinions!!

I'd think as long as she checked out okay and seems happy, she'll be fine for a long time especially seeing as you don't drive it daily nor are you making drag strip passes. Normal maintenance, quality E85, and let her eat.

Biggest maintenance items e85 guys miss is sending the injectors in for a cleaning yearly. I have seen this ruin more than a few high dollar motors. Change/ clean the fuel filters at the same time and keep up on everything else and you will get a good engine life.

Been running e85 for 7 or more years and never had any issues. Every time I check the fuel filter it’s clean and looks brand new. I’ve never done any yearly cleaning of injectors.

It may see the strip one time just out of curiosity but that’s very unlikely. These cars have been my dream car so it’ll be cherished more than anything!! E85 is a bitch to get here in Phoenix kind of I’ll have to be careful about what station I go to. Been doing my homework on it and it sounds like there’s maybe two good consistent stations

Exactly what I am talking about. Injector cleaning really gets forgotten about from most until is cots you big.

It really depends on the type on injectors and where you purchase your e85. My fms 80's out of the Cobra where 1.9 % off clean to dirty. My FIC 1200 were closer to 5% after two years. Car sat while updating to Holley Efi. Your car your choice on maintenance.

After 2 years of sitting I would get any injector cleaned. Sounds like it was mostly a case of sitting. Probably less of an issue for those that can drive their car year round.

The 80's were never known to be that great to begin with. So I'd take those results with a grain of salt.

Just to be clear they didn't sit for 2 years that was the time in between cleaning. I waited because I new I was installing the Holley and wanted to start off tuning with clean injectors.

Mines probably been on E85 longer than any other terminator on this forum (quite possibly the world).....zero issues in 11years now. It has FMS 80s. I change the plugs and fuel filter yearly. The injectors have never been pulled. It runs flawlessly. In fact, no fuel system related part has been changed. 04sleeper knew exactly what he was doing and it’s stood the test of time.

But I will never fault any one at any time for doing maintenance. If you feel the need to get injector service then do it. I’m still rolling as is and I’ll keep an eye on the data periodically. Not losing any sleep just yet. This car has been fed Texas pump E85 the entire time...and it routinely tests near E90, year after year and all year long. No winter blend.

E85 cleans the shit out of everything it touches. 9 years on Ford Racing 80 lb.'ers in my car, never any trouble. A/F still the same. I don't even switch back to gas to let the car sit over the winter months any more.
I just drive it conservatively until I put fresh in when I get it out in the spring.

3yrs no issues. Sits for months at a time regularly.

25psi is up there but on the other hand, 730whp isn’t crazy. Prob have mild timing.

I've been on strictly e85 for 7 years. Never any issues. Change my fuel filter every few years, same with plugs. Both look clean when changed. I store mine in the winter from November to late April early May. All I do is fill the tank to the brim before parking it to keep moisture away. AF numbers look just as good now as they did when tuned 7 years ago.

This it what I am talking about. 7 years later make a pull a bang new engine time. Send injectors in and find out you have issues.

If anyone sends in a set to be cleaned post your results. Seems like location plays a factor in this.

When my last engine let go I had mine flowed and cleaned to ensure they weren't the cause. Shop said they were fine even before the cleaning. Granted they only had ~3k on them.
