Looking for the best quality retrofit headlights out there. Don't need fancy back lit eyes, led light strips etc. Just a projector HID kit that includes the bulbs etc. plug and play.

Thanks for the feedback. Any specific reason you can share?

there's a couple threads around here with more specifics if you do a search. and more stories than just mine, unfortunately.

essentially, sent mine back 3x times (on my dime) and they still leak/fog. first 2 times they just globbed RTV all over it without tape lines or anything, i was embarrassed to pop my hood. this last round they 'resealed it' and while the RTV lines are cleaner, they botched the lens housing so much from opening it up 4 times that it's out of shape and pushes the bumper down and makes headlight alignment impossible. the lenses are separating from the housings now, and their only advice was to get morimoto e-clips that help hold the lens in place, and they still haven't sent them out to me.

their customer service was abysmal, months of emails ignored, never hit a deadline that they promised, etc. etc. not to mention 0 quality of workmanship.

with the shipping costs alone, i could have bought all of the parts and 2 sets of lenses (they are just using eagle eyes lenses), one to prototype, and one to finalize if i ****ed up the first, and STILL came out money ahead.

Sorry that happened man. Appreciate the info and I will be sure to stay away from them.

Do your own. It is stupid easy and you can customize them yourself. Also, you can seal them correctly and know you will never have moisture. I did mine and they are an esthetic and night safety game changer. Took 4 hours and some paint drying time.

i got a little frustrated looking around and bought a pair of SeaLight LEDs off of amazon. I have a set in my non-projector F150 and VERY happy with them so far. I will have the mustang out with them this weekend and let ya know how it goes. They appear to have the LED chips placed correctly behind the reflectors to not have a crazy beam pattern/blind oncoming drivers.

starting to think I may do them myself as mentioned above if not happy with these. I would practice on my old set of lights that need replacing anyone before cutting up a new set of lights. I am concerned about sealing if heat messes up butyl since Im hell...I mean FL

There is ample amount of info via YouTube and retrofit supply joints that make taking the lights apart and reassembling them a breeze. 240 for :15 did the trick to get them apart; preheating they butyl to make it tacky and then warming the bead of it in the groove for :15 before pressing the lens together and done.

The prime and paint is easy, and if installing mini H-1 projectors the reflector bowl needs minimal trimming.

I wouldn’t waste the thought of doing a practice set. Just watch the vids, take your time and you will have a great product.

If I had a choice between doing a retrofit or changing a fuel filter, I’d do the lights every time.

I wrote a tutorial back in the day. It should be a link in my sig.

As others have said - it really isn't that hard to do yourself. Headlights are cheap at this point to where you could learn by screwing up a couple times and still come out ahead. I just takes a little time.

What are the best fitting after market lights to do this with? Some after market lights fit horrible on the drivers side.

IMO the only way to go is with the brand Eagle Eye. Their mustang lights are bidirectionally adjustable like factory and figment is best I’ve seen. They can be had for $80-$90 shipped from eBay. Just have to make sure they have the Eagle Eye sticker and PN in the listing.
