Friendly reminder that neither of these are Trophy Trucks out of the box. Vastly superior to other trucks for off road credentials, but neither is close to being race ready.

Far easier to get there, but not there yet.

Just my personal observation.

True, but at least Ford ran and completed the Baja 1000 with a stock truck other than safety requirements :D

Yup. Need a 50 cal antenna and a 6" lift kit before it's a trophy truck

There's a guy now building up his 2010 Raptor. Cut the rear frame off, frame up front is getting modified etc... Big build. Can't imagine how much will be dumped into it. And even then it's a bad ass "legal" street truck but still no trophy truck.

We already know that Ford was changing to the coil spring rear suspension. That test vehicle also had a v6 in it, and that vehicle also had orange cables around the frame. That is indicative of the powerboost and similar to what those vehicles have. Ford got caught with their pants down when the TRX announcement came. Any which way you look at it, someone comparing off-road trucks (primary buyer is a daily driver to work and home depot, with weekends getting a little mid on the tires... Maybe) is going to want the hellcat over a powerboost v6. If I am a regular buyer, my research would say ford already has massive cam phaser issues for many years on the 3.5 ecoboost... Would not want that, let alone electric motors for an offroad application.
Personally, I am from the 6.2 raptor generation. Once I had fully wore out mine, I went away from Ford (didn't want to live the ecoboost hell) and have been waiting for them to go back to a v8 of some sort. I don't even care if it's an NA 5.0.... I just want a v8 raptor. I am ready to pull the trigger on a TRX right now, but waiting on Ford news. If I can buy a v8 raptor, I will. If not, I will go TRX.

What some people think their TRX is going to look like with the body off

Dodge announced a hellcat powered TRX several years ago. If Ford did not think they were actually going to build it, it’s their own fault, but they had plenty of warning. I don’t think this was a huge surprise to many people.

As has been mentioned, Ford will probably have no problem selling whatever flavor of Raptor they come up with, and I’ll see them pulling trailers for a lawn business every day like I do now

the problem for ford is they waited so long to put a V8 back in the raptor, that even if they do many will still jump ship. Personally if ford had a V8 raptor I would have bought one last year when I got my ram. Now I’m so impressed with the ram I’m highly considering stepping up to a TRX. I’m sure there are more then a few in the same boat as me.

I don't know how they can compare the two??

I think the Raptor is a far more capable truck for those dunes and jumps.
I think the TRX is far more capable of blowing it's doors off in a straight line.

Their offroad performance is about the same. Ram just threw huge power in it to "win". Win what exactly I'm not sure of, we'll see if it wins sales. Regardless of 700hp it's still going to be slow on the street with the big tires, they either should have built a more aggressive suspension and leave the standard Hemi (keeps costs relevant) or build a hellcat street truck. imo

I’m not sure what makes you think the ram would be any less capable?

they win the cool factor, and the bragging rights for big power and a supercharged truck. I do agree I’d have rather seen a street set up from a performance standpoint but it’s clear the off-road style sells.

I haven't seen any photos or videos of it going over any sweet jumps. lol
But seriously, I haven't seen the TRX grabbing air yet. Unless I just haven't seen any? I've seen the Raptor in air many times.

I saw a video clip on Instagram of it going over some small back to back jumps in the sand but no big air. I’m curious if we’ll see more but I don’t think that’s the selling point. The point ram drive home is this thing really becomes gobs of fun wheeling it in the sand and flat dirt but still has capabilities to move through other terrain. That’s my take on it at least

Yea, I do understand that. It's just that 100% of the time if people buy something for status and not for actual use and then spout off about how sick their status symbol is (when it's really not) then I ridicule it. The Raptor never got any love from me either. They were the laughing stock of the real offroad community since they came out. This TRX is honestly just multiplying that.

I'll agree with that.

If I had to pick between the two, it's the TRX all day long. I don't do any off-road at all.

that only holds validity to you and those who off road. The profit doesn’t come from that niche group anyway for either the raptor or TRX.

people who really want to off-road are building their vehicles like you’ve done.
