I've enjoyed the convenience of using the Ford Remote Access app to monitor and start my truck via phone since 2012-ish. Super reliable and inexpensive, about $60/yr if I recall.

The module relies on AT&T's 3G network which is scheduled for decommissioning 12/31/20. #whichidiotvoted4this #why #eff5G

I've searched for alternate cellular remote start modules, but they all seem to require a 3rd party alarm in conjunction.

Who here can convince AT&T to identify a different 3G strategy??
-or-
Is there another cellular remote start option that doesn't require a bogus alarm?

Perhaps it’s as simple as replacing the 3G antenna with a 4G antenna...Surely I can do something with a Raspberry Pi or Arduino PLC something or other.
Where my hackers at??

I had a 12voltSolutions system with their cellular addon in my last truck, and I really miss it. That truck didn't have OEM RS though, where my new truck does...and I don't really want to add an aftermarket one, so I just deal with the inconvenience of having to use my key fob to start it. First world problems are tough.

Seriously though, it was awesome being able to start the truck from anywhere/anytime. I also liked being able to double check that I locked it, or remote unlock it when someone else needed to get into it for whatever reason. I used it far more than my fob because I could start it from inside my house, office, grocery store, etc, and get the confirmation that it started.

100%!!

I would start my truck while the plane was landing so it would be perfect when I made my way to the garage with luggage in the Houston sauna.
