I used the engine hoist to lift by the crash bar. Jack stands up as high as they go. Dropped the motor/k onto metal wheel dollies, trans stayed on the trans Jack. Pull wheel well liner for more clearance. Pivot the car up, roll out through wheel well.

I just unhooked the harness from the firewall, not the motor.

Thanks, sounds easy enough, just need to figure out if I have enough room in the garage to do it.

Plan on doing mine this fall/winter, if any you do it before, lemme know any tips and how it went. I'm also debating if it is necessary to do head studs. Never heard of stock head leaks, bolts may be just fine.

If you are doing anything to the heads, you should look in to opening up the exhaust valve ports to within 90% of what the intakes are.

Some posts made by na svt can be searched in svtp forum.

Consider cams and springs as well.
I think you can add a bit more lift without piston fly cuts..but not sure.

I did the same thing in my garage. One thing I’ll add that bought me some space was placing the rear wheels on some blocks of wood. Gave me a little extra clearance when sliding the front end out.

I had 6 jack stands, 2 under the axle all the way up

I did this exact project last year. I have access to 2 post... after a lot of research I dropped the entire thing from the bottom. Not that bad of a project really, its just nuts and bolts!


I dropped mine out the bottom in a 2 car garage using an engine hoist to rotate the car. Only needed the second garage stall when it was time to roll the driveline out through the wheel well. Out the bottom is doable even without a lift

Were either of you guys able to drop it out the bottom without opening up or evacuating the a/c system?

I see people claim they can flip the AC compressor around and set on the fender under where the air intake would be, I couldnt figure it out. I did evac and refill the system.

I've heard people say they can flop it out of the way. Thats my main worry, I don't wanna crack that system open

I didnt open the power steering system. How'd you handle the AC compressor?

Sorry it's been a while but you flip up the compressor (I think there are push connections on the lines close sorry I'm not around my car). You have to remove pulley bridge then I think compressor comes forward, you kinda flip it over and land it on the shelf under the air intake tube. With the pulley bridge on the hoses weren't long enough to let the compressor come forward far enough to clear it. So removing the pulley bridge makes the motor short enough the compressor can come out in front of the motor.
