Since I’m late to the game and everyone already experienced crank snout issues,
What does everyone think about the Kinetic crank saver stud? Do these really help keeping this from happening again?

Are the Cobrajet cranks double keyed? Or are they single keyed and the same as the Gt500 crank?

So far, things are looking good considering.
I already ordered a new OEM crank and gonna run the crank saver this time.
We will see how things look once it’s all pulled. I probably won’t touch it again until next spring. Gotta hustle for a bit to pay the bill.

I cant even say thanks for the advice because there was none.

I gave you great advice. Your just either too dense and or arrogant to listen. I’ll say it once more and then I’m out of this nightmare thread for good.

1) Stop screwing around speculating about lock tite or loose bolts and PULL THE MOTOR

2) Don’t buy shit until you know what you have. Ya, you obviously need a crank but you also might need a complete long block. Don’t buy anything until you know. You’ll waste a pile of money doing that.

3) What ever you plan to spend to fix this - double it. And how much time you think it’ll take - double that too.

That’s all I got for you, not that it matters, you seem like the type of fellow that needs to learn things the hard way. Good luck.

Jesus. I mean I figured it out pretty quick before you guys even commented what it was. I was just sharing the experience. Man this is a tough crowd. Sorry you guys have broke your cars years ago and I am late to the game. lol. I was merely adding a video on what happened to share my experience and more so to get feedback on what causes this.

Ok derrrrr

I can spin the blower and the crank so the engine isn’t locked up.

Dumbass.

Either the belt is off or not.

You aren’t spinning the whole engine assembly by hand.

Are you ****ing stupid?

Jesus Christ, a few of you guys as assholes huh? Wow.
I don’t need a complete long block. I bought the crank because I absolutely need that ant found oem cranks for $300. It made sense to buy one while I could at that price.

The spinning of the pulley was just because someone asked me if it locked up. And I wanted to see if the chain was still connected.
Man, this community really blows sometimes. I’m sure if I asked where can I spend all my money and have someone diagnose this for me, you guys would be real nice and helpful.
Some guys in here are ass backwards. I’m trying to be part of this lacking community that no one really posts in, and when I do, you guys give me shit.

Don't take the negatives as being representative of the whole group. There are plenty of people that quietly follow along, interested and hoping to learn something along the way. There actually are people who realize they don't know everything already and can learn from and commiserate with others who are having a bad go of it. The world isn't totally full of assholes, it just seems like it sometimes.

O.P., sorry for your luck. You kind of said it yourself though, some of these guys have been breaking their cars for years on here. There are a few “members” on here who post a link to their YouTube videos, then ghost until they post their next YouTube video. We all know what’s going on there.

If you see a post that you don’t like, just ignore it. It’s the internet, and the good thing about that... we can pick and choose what we want to read.

I’ve seen some solid advice on this thread myself. I would tell you that just because you can’t hear a real lope doesn’t mean you don’t have aftermarket cams. I have stage 2 Comp Cams in my car. You can’t really tell though.

Sorry to here OP, never fun. I hope you get it taken care of. It would probably be a good time to pull the motor since winter is coming and just go through it 100%. Wether you replace anything or not, at least you’ll be fully satisfied everything was doubled checked.

If you had pulled the engine and disassembled it to get the full extent of the damage first, you would also know what else you need besides a crank.

With damage that extensive, I've never seen anyone do what you're doing. Generally, the engine gets pulled and then you figure it out from there.

Incidentally, this makes for MUCH better YouTube content and would get you more exposure.

That sucks PM... total buzz kill. I wouldn't think breaking a crank snout with a 2.3L TVS is all that common. I'll be following to see if somehow the balancer was the root cause of this failure. Seems like installation errors cause lots of misfire issues and a balancer working itself loose is not uncommon, causing issues that they are supposed to prevent. Good luck with the diagnosis and repair.

thanks man. I really think the bolt worked loose because of the snout breaking. Same with the lash of the chain causing the valve cover to rip.
We shall see.

I already looked at the cams. They resemble stock to means markings look stock. Brenspeed even told me the cams they put in would certainly be noticeable chops
I am not that guy that posts a video and ghosts. Its pretty apparent I am extremely active in the community as I am usually on most posts on here and creating posts regularly. I'd like to think I provide alot to every community I am part of.
Just because there are a few know it all's doesn't mean i am not allowed to post. Honestly, I have been posting less because of people like that.

Again, not sure if you read everything yet. I don’t care what other people do. It makes me sleep better at night bore scoping and looking at plugs because atleast that tells me if there are holes in my pistons and how bad to expect. Not sure why you guys are so damn worried about why I am spending extra time looking over MY car? The motor will be pulled and it will be looked over obviously. I am doing what I can do in the comfort of my own home and immediate actions I can take to make a game plan. This is gonna be a year long rebuild, so some immediate gratification helps me sleep better at night.

Again, for people that do not understand diagnosing a problem and forming a budget and battle plan, that is what non wealthy DIY people do. Not everyone can or wants to just write a blank check and have a shop pickup their car to do the work for them. I posted the video within 2 hours of this happening. Cut me some slack.
Hopefully this post gets people thinking about crank snouts and maybe learn more about the issue before theirs possibly breaks and they are stuck with a trashed motor.

If the bolt loosened, and the key way sheared off, could that have caused the pulley to fail, giving the appearance of a broken snout?

I just don't accept the fact at, basically a stock Trinity blower upgrade, there's anyway to break a crank snout. If there is, can anyone chime in?

Another YouTuber, with a 2014, big ass KB, 1000rwhp, blew out his stock timing system, and nothing else got damaged! I think you will come out the same way. Pulley bolt loosened, sheared crank keyway, vibration caused your timing system to fail. Crank will be ok.

Not a fan of WOT box, and stock timing system. Even if you only use it for the "no lift shift", like you said in that video you made.

Good luck

I never used the wotbox since I installed it.
Here is a pic of the key way. I thought it looked like it maybe sheared a little, but I can’t look at it head on
You really think the crank is ok? I can literally move it all around in every direction currently. My thought was it snapped right behind the gears?
