We have been avoiding travel and cutting down on our time spent out and about to be able to spend more time with my in laws who are high risk. As skeptical as I am about some of this stuff and as much as I hate wearing my mask I couldn’t live with me getting either of them sick. Just gotta prioritize what’s important and it’s definitely them. That being said this is all bullshit and we can’t wait until it’s over and we can park our asses on a beach in Mexico again. Hopefully we find a way sooner rather than later.

Never really took vacations to begin with. Had 3 days in May of this year, but before that was 4 days in January of 2018.

I spent 40%-60% of my time traveling for work pre-covid. I HATED the stupidity at airports before COVID, I cannot imagine how dumb people are being right now. I do not miss air travel one bit.

Any vacation we take will be via a road trip.

Yup. We are pretty much not doing anything for our anniversary. Avoiding airport travel like the plague (literally). Not due to fear of the 'Rona, but aggravation of the headaches caused by society's response to it. We found out this weekend different parts of the county are doing different levels of infringement; Del Mar up to $1k fine for not wearing a mask, so we will be taking our business elsewhere. **** masks and **** you.

Honestly it makes us more inclined to go move somewhere where we can afford a nice nice house, and never go anywhere if this is society's response to this. Everywhere we like to go has turned to utter shit and a cluster**** just to have a modicum of normality. Instead of nice restaurants we used to peruse about every other night, we just eat at home or get fast food since its not worth the hassle anymore, and nobody wants to dine outside in the heat.

I normally got to San Diego once a year. There is a huge Mustang show there. So we go for a week. Wife gets to go to the beach and sight see and I get to go to the Mustang show. Fun had by all.

We don't fly as I'm normally trailering one of my cars. I guess things worked out for me. We were not planning on going this year since I planned on rebuilding my 65 Mustang. The Mustang show got canceled anyway. So, since my wife does not want to risk being exposed we are not going anywhere. That leaves me more funds to go towards my 65 build.

Hopefully everything gets worked out next year and me skipping this year will be no big deal since everything is getting canceled anyway.

BTW, I wear a mask on a limited basis (i.e. going to the store to get essentials). Other than that I'm at home mask free...……..saving money for my Mustang build LOL.

I’m not changing my life because of the China virus. If I want to travel, I’ll travel.

I took a long week end a couple of weeks ago and travelled to complete some dive certification and in a couple of weeks I have a dive trip scheduled down in North Carolina.

Travel for work has been slightly more due to all this. However, my work trip for a week long meeting/awards thing was cancelled that I was looking forward to due to food, drink, and SoCal locale.

Anniversary trip to Southwest US and NW US has been cancelled.

All I do is work. Sad Face
I know that feel...

If I don't work, I don't get paid. (And still am always on call.) So if I go on vacation, I have to plan on not getting paid while away into the vacation price too (opportunity cost).

If I could afford a vacation, I'd be on one.

I've put off two trips to Vegas not because I'm afraid to travel, but because the experience once we get there will absolutely not be the same, so why bother? Not going back until there's live music and bars open on Fremont.

My brother has that same mentality. I've got nothing against that mentality either.

My problem is I don't want my bro traveling all over the place and then interacting with my parents who are in their mid 70's.

He can risk himself all he wants. Just don't risk the health of others who can't afford that risk is my point of view.

Cancelled our trip to Sanibel Island to see my Grandfather. He is getting up there and he always wants us to visit so he can spend time with his great grandson. Hope we can reschedule for beginning of next year if they ever figure this whole thing out. My work requires me to quarantine for 14 days if i go to a "hot spot" on the CDC list so that ended our plans quickly.

So my time away now is track events at Summit Point and i am crossing my fingers that it doesnt get shut down again.

I just made the best of it.

Some kid a couple rows up kept sneezing. I noticed people getting fidgety and staring at him so I started whispering loudly to my Gf that he had the Rona. Made people even more uncomfortable.

Then, after sitting within arms reach of 9 peoples heads, along with 160 other people, in an air tight capsule with recycled air....they delivered the deplaning instructions.

To limit contact and increase social distancing, only one row can stand, retrieve their carry on, and exit the plane. Once they are off, the next row can stand. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Instructions were repeated again while taxing to gate.

Soon as the plane stopped, one person in row 8 jumped up and grabbed their bag. Of course, many of the sheep were appalled. And to my delight, it was an asian lady. In a not subtle voice at all I announced “way to go Wuhan!” Hahah. Got a smack in the ribs from my GF for that but I was dying.

Other than that, total hassle in the airport. Getting food is a bitch. And you all order and pay on the same tablet the last person used. Ducking gross when their isn’t a pandemic.

I had to fly for a funeral last week, and I got the same speech. Everyone around was shocked at the stupidity. No one followed the instructions. As soon as people started getting up, everyone got up.

Our 10 year was in May and we pushed off a trip for that...

Shelbyfest canceled...

Talladega guys weekend canceled too. 10 year streak broken...

This week, we drove the 4 hours to Nashville (Hendersonville actually) and got a VRBO that has a nice game room and in-ground pool. Sharing the house with our friends; 4 adults and two boys.

My buddy and I have done some liquor store searches for bourbon to flip and the girls hit some antique stores. Other than thats its been swimming, boozing, fires, and cooking dinners. We thought about hitting Broadway, but it's limited capacity at the moment and probably dead/boring. I feel bad for the workers and musicians.

We normally do the same type of thing in South Haven, but prices there are waaaaayyyy inflated at the moment.

I think I'll be pushing for a couples' trip next year to somewhere sandy, but this year is pretty well jacked. Was nice to have some vacation days to just blow at home though when I didn't want to work.

I'll be taking two weeks off over Christmas/ New Years like normal, but that's chainsaw time.
