i m sorry guys.

Jay drank a lot and I mean a lot. He knew that too but the man couldn’t help it. He started to develop health issues possibly related. His mom began seeing his color turning more yellow / orangeish, clearly liver related but jay refused to go to the hospital and said he was fine. He developed pneumonia and still refused to go to the hospital. His mom just called an ambo and forced him to go the hospital. They admitted him and began treatment but He suddenly passed away shortly there after due to complications. They identified a decent size cancer / tumor in his liver as well.

Tragic end to a good person. Based on the description of his symptoms he was already heading toward the exit door regardless of the pneumonia. I feel for his mother. There could be nothing worse than watching your child suffer and pass away before she does

I had a friend that went through the same troubles as Jay. He was the all American type. All star basketball player. Worked for a large pharmaceutical company. Had married a beautiful woman and had great kids. Lived in a very nice home. He was even asked to be in some national TV ad for one of the cell phone companies. In the span of 15 years he was fired, divorced, literally homeless. Sad thing was up until he died he still had a constant smile on his face and was always telling jokes. He never could realize how alcohol was running everything. In the end he was drunk, slipped and hit his head on the concrete and was dead.

I keep checking in on this post. Still shocked about it.

I consider many people on svtp as my friends. Even though I haven't met anyone in person, I talk to a lot of members through text and sometimes phone calls. Mostly about helping out where I can with car stuff.

I did not know him except on here. But sometimes that is all it takes. This and other forums are how I have met some good friends. It is great how cars can really bring people together.
He was a good dude on here.

RIP Jay. Hope you are enjoying where you are a bit more then down here.

And sorry Musclefan. That is hard to go through. Sorry for your loss man

Wow. As said many times I never knew him but have seen many of his post on here while lurking around. Just sad...he was way too young.

I was that guy through high school and for about 10 years after...drank way too much and never knew when or how to stop. Everyone loved it cause I was always doing dumb shit and making people laugh. Finally gave it up and got help one day and haven’t looked back since.

Wonder if it was pneumonia at all as a sudden lack of alcohol for someone who is dependent can kill them too.

So sorry to hear. Remember this is not your fault. You can lead a horse to water...

Good for you @C2tuck. That’s amazing you were able to do that.

That's a damn shame he got to that point with alcohol.

My grandfather drank a lot for decades and got liver cancer due to it in his 80's. Unfortunate to hear Jay may of had L.C. at a much younger age.

Hope his mother gets some support from family and friends.

So, Jay and I were like 23-24 years old. He swore up and down on plenty of fish.com dating site and got me on it.
so he met this pretty cute girl on there and they set up a first date. I saw the pics and approved. He asked me to go with and that we could find me a girl at the bar and just turn that into a double date. I was like sure. So we approach to the bar, it is a nice summer evening, right around sunset. This girl was sitting on the bench waiting, so she sees Jay, gets up and says hi. She was a pretty overweight girl, clearly her photos were a bit too old. This is exactly what Jay did, he looked at her and he was dumbfounded because she looked completely different than her photos and said “oh F’ no. Let’s get the F outta here dude she is a whale” and turned around.
The girl was clearly shocked. I will leave the conversation we had in the car to myself but it was hilarious the way he acted.! I felt bad for the girl but the didn’t blame Jay. I personally don’t have the balls to tell that to someone’s face but Jay never cared.

Another story:
We are at a bar in chicago. We see a few girls standing by the bar checking us out and vice versa. So we walk up to them and began chatting. One of the girls who was a bit drunk brought the conversation to sex. A short moment later Jay invited her to his place to “hang out” and the girl literally said this “mmmm I don’t know, do you have a big D?” And Jay responded “ you got big tits? Looks like that is a no, so you don’t get a big D”. And believe it or not, he hooked up with that girl that night. Lol.

dude was a riot. As I said, he was that douche you really wanted as friends.

I have many stories with this dude... I miss him so much

My grandfather drank constantly (I don't ever remember him NOT being at least near drunk) and it killed him. Same with my ex-brother-in-law. My father-in-law used to drink regularly but then quit and for maybe 30 years never drank again. Alcohol can certainly be a killer.

I still can't believe Jay is gone, every time I see this thread.
